no. it's just that you didn't see the joke. i made post involving "big words" (a "big" explanation too) and then i was like lol, get this, i was like

"but yeah...no".

get it?

not a particular funny joke.

but yeah, so my theory isn't really being given the run-down anymore. but alas, you do wish to say something about it, after all, right? not just beat around the bush about it being fallacious, without explaining why, no? (why, that is, you think it's fallacious, that is.)

Statement: "I request an alternative description of your theory of memetic advantage."

Response: "see George Lakoff's Conceptual Metaphor Theory
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Conceptual_metaphor
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/George_Lakoff

within the realm of epistemology, nothing is really certain, so you'd have to decide how you want to approach this."

The first link informs me that your theory of memetic advantage is a conceptual metaphor.

The second link informs me about someone who did a thesis on the conceptual metaphor.

Lakoff in the first link suggests that conceptual metaphors help us understand: "such as the metaphor of fluid motion for conducted electricity, which is described in terms of "current" "flowing" against "impedance,"

Epistemology, meaning Logica Discourse (Wiki) lends to the idea that your theory of memetic advantage helps us understand something.

Therefor, from the evidence supplied, I conclude that the advantage of memetics is in the fact that society can be manipulated at the subliminal threshold of awareness without making a case to be presented to the courts of human discourse, AND that nothing can withstand such when a "Memetic Repulse Factor" is set to zero.

Please correct me where I have erred in this summation.

you pretty much encapsulated it all. but one problem, if, that is, you care about what is "set".

repulse set at 0 would be a tactical affair. not a strategic one only.

there is no actually barrelling through anyone and letting "god sort them out" (as it goes), lest we relinquish our freedoms to the tyranny of whatever comes, a totalitarian affair...the tactics would belay a strategy, but it'd need to be one that isn't an affair of total war (which is what is nigh approaching- again), but instead of mutual interest.

or the former aspect of total war, which would be madness.

key point:
when there is an absolute disinclination towards resisting the meme, the repulse factor is set to 0 automatically.

but there are many types of total wars. and many types of mutual interests.

funnily enough, focusing solely on materialism and "intellect" is one of the prime 'resistance points', aside from one's own psychology, which is the Holy Grail, in a certain sense- that is to say, in a degree of resistance it allows itself to be 'taken over'.

So a simple example of an absolute disinclination towards resisting a meme is the adoption of some words, phrases and abbreviations used in texting.

i.e. OTD lingo: "I can't enough", Pron (porn), tl;dr  (too long; didn't read)

A more sinister example might be that the generation raised on video games will react to the violence in the headlines, and the need to provide for their families, by obtaining a concealed carry permit, thus generating a spike in gun violence in the civilian sector.

the legality and availability of guns is enough to spike the violence with or without video games, and there is no correlation in this pseudo science to make that prediction.

you have to weight all aspects and facotr of the issue, stand back and view it all in the same gestalt/modality/thinking

the way I see it is that it's like a pebble being tossed in a lake every time someone gets shot, it rocks (in a negative way) surroundings. the others wickedly focus on one aspect with less mindfulness on the other aspect. on the loss and terribleness of it. this is a theory, this is a discourse, this is proof. this is fact, this is science.

the family members get it worse and because of this the people they meet get it worse. anything to complain about makes the whole earth get it worse. this is fact that the earth gets it worse because guns are legal and available, and it is part of a series of things to complain about, that if we rid any one of these we get it better. it's wonderful it's life, it's common sense, it's well it's music experiences.

You think there's no correlation between the violence on tv, video games, and the news, to leverage today's family man or woman into obtaining a permit for concealed carry?

lol, yes. Practices also.

Quote:
A meme acts as a unit for carrying cultural ideas, symbols, or practices, that can be transmitted from one mind to another through writing, speech, gestures, rituals, or other imitable phenomena with a mimicked theme.

Copycat killings are an example of a meme spread thru social media. Personally I'm a proponent of the "Mystical Math" component in the inception of such, I bid my nay-sayers patience while I pursue the empirical scientific evidence.

Obscurantism

Obscurantism is the practice of deliberately presenting information in an imprecise and recondite manner, often designed to forestall further inquiry and understanding. There are two historical and intellectual denotations of Obscurantism: the deliberate restriction of knowledge—opposition to disseminating knowledge; and, deliberate obscurity—an abstruse style characterized by deliberate vagueness.

I am not being deliberately vague or doing any of the other things.
the media is not simply impartial, it is highly manipulated to present emotionally charged stories. I am actually agreeing with the manipulation of the masses by feeding memes, but I think you are not exactly presenting a working model of this.

i said, i was working on it and asking for help...jeez.

PS: new theory...the left- and the right-wing are both consecutively increasing (thanks Watchtower math-wizards for inspiration!), thus producing this new paradigm shift we've been undergoing. therefore, the left feel like the right are trying to take over their fort, and the right feel like the left are trying to take over theirs, so to speak (gonna work on a better analogy)- point is, both are afraid of losing proponents.

Salient features of postmodernism are normally thought to include the ironic play with styles, citations and narrative levels, a metaphysical skepticism or nihilism towards a "grand narrative" of Western culture, a preference for the virtual at the expense of the Real (or more accurately, a fundamental questioning of what 'the real' constitutes) and a "waning of affect" on the part of the subject, who is caught up in the free interplay of virtual, endlessly reproducible signs inducing a state of consciousness similar to schizophrenia-Wiki

Deconstruction only points to the necessity of an unending analysis that can make explicit the decisions and arbitrary violence intrinsic to all texts-Wiki

gotta remember the difference between an excuse (or in this instance, a bunch of comprehensions) and explanation. all those terms cited in your quote there are explanations (and there are several of them, like with quantum physics -- in case you couldn't tell, people can't quite come to grips with consensus), and they are incomplete ones, they are terms which are literally framed in a particular manner on wikipedia that's not comprehensive nor understanding (and hence trying to encapsulate something with strangeness such as the notion that postmodernism has anything to do with "inducing schizophrenic states" (again, explanation, not a comprehension, here-- and worst of all, this "salient", so-called, string of explication, you've quoted, is just some tangent someone thought evinced reality...it doesn't. maybe for someone who literally can't control how they think and believe with any cogency...yes, people can drive themselves crazy- look at heavily religious people (whom do not have the ability to intellectualize, that is- that is to say, those who are low intelligence and simply become zealots with no explanatory power over their notions about reality, or unreality; consensus)-- look at feminists, nowadays (calling people like Camille Paglia "anti-feminist" because- like i said- things get taken too far [see post above]) -- but that's not nearly a narrowing down of anything but a particular perspective based on a rather biased approach to the nuance of the terminology used to describe/explain the effects, in which these explications are made -- seriously, the only reason people think "postmodernism is about untruth, no reality, everything is mixed and a mess, no sense making is needed" ect, is literally...people being as dumb as they usually are, en masse (i said en masse!), on this planet...and the peak IQ, i think, seeing what i've seen...just my opinion...has been reached. it's all down-hill from here (maybe-- people can't understand concepts enough before they start challenging them, or making new explicate orders, which then spiral out of control, because they aren't accurate.)

but where i'm coming from isn't anything to do with postmodernism.

i'm a post-post-postmodernist

i'm concerned more with the outcome of all this, than the explanations.

but people need to understand the explanations, before they can hope to not regress away from more of the things everyone who are "moderates", in any sense of the word, can agree on (memetic advantage 0 type understanding in a bastion of central-control within a bounded ecumene). *

i'm more concerned with the "historical" outcome. that is to say, can we solve some key issues plaguing us today:
corporatism leading to totalitarian slopes of inequality, leading to a "perceived fascism" [both on the left- and right-wing] ...

social otherizing leading to segregation and alienation [which ties in with the former header] ...

and then some, more of the political landscape, as well. what people are allowed to belief, say, think, social controls, the war of ideas and emotions....all are settled on this field.

*edit: edited for correct, i misspoke.
