First time drying, are they rotten?

Hello it's my first time drying mushroom and I wasn't home for 4 days and when I came back they looked like that, they are still a bit wet so I don't know if they are rotten or just drying

Next time, consider the drying process as something essential. Your fruits are highly valuable, take note:

1.If at a certain moment you can't dry your fruits, and need to be out for whatever reason, you can store them for a very short period of time in the fridge (making sure it is the kind of fridge that does not create extra moisture.)

2.To dry mushrooms for long-term storage, a food dehydrator is highly recommended, they are really ease to use. After using the food dehydrator, check check if your mushrooms are dry as crackers (that's why we call them cracker dry), you will be able to crack them or even make pulver out of it. This will mean, they have no water inside them anymore, but still contain psilocybin, the 'magic' compund.

3.If you are storing them dry, use an artight container combined with some diseccant. This method works perfect.

If you get a dehydrator right away you can save those by turning the heat up and drying completely. The heat at 160 will basically pasteurized them.

err..
if OP is that desperate he could just boil those in a tea asap, and then freeze the tea. boiling water kills nasties..

pasteurizing a mushroom does.....:shrug:

Thank you everyone, I was very happy to grow my first mushroom but I'm really sad some on them are rotten, I will try to buy a food dehydrator, I will make sure they dry well the next time

Yes, but only in crystalline form. It's ok to boil or cook shrooms without loosing potency.

Yea if u make tea, u definatly wont notice any loss of potency. But i wouldnt even think about ingesting rotton food. Next time id suggest eating them fresh if u cant dry them correctly.

Or there is an option to make nice tea from all the shrooms harvested. Check this. And it is also possible to store tea as ice. I haven't try it myself yet, but I definitely will in short time.

I make tea and freeze it all the time. Works great! But its easier to use dry shrooms. But fresh shrooms make the tea blue so thats cool, but u gotta mush the shrooms up really good b4 making the tea. With dried shrooms i grind them to a powder which is my prefered method.

I placed them in a box which was opened a bit but I wasn't there for 4 days

Thats the perfect way to rot ur shrooms. Store in the fridge if u cant dry the right after harvest. But drying should begin immediatly after harvest
