Bacteria of the type that affect shrooms require moisture. Drying removes moisture. Cracker dry & they don't rot.

Of course if they have already rotted before you dry them, then you have dry rotten mushrooms. The same applies to contamination... if you dry a contaminated fruit, the contam may die, but any toxins it produced would still be present.

Also, some contams produce endospores when the environment they live in drys up. As soon as they get moist again the endospores 'sprout' and the contamination comes back to life.

Best bet, toss it if you think it is contaminated.
