The dangers of forage in the Southern states

This is would be a thread for the people familiar with, or would benifitfl from knowing the different dangers in hunting wild mushrooms in the eastern united states.  In the south there are many different animals, insects, diseases in nature accompanying the same environment as fungi. When forging for wild mushrooms a reasonable understanding of which dangers share the same environment will be necessary.  If the people familiar with these could contribute, those enjoying this task will be better prapared.

There are plenty of animals i have come acrosswhile foraging the southern states.  Aligator, aligator turtle, Rattle snakes, cotton mouths, posinous insects, dogs,

I have found that the environments, if i search for mushrooms hard enough i also find deadly obstacles as well.  I have enjoyed the outdoors, but without a respect for whats out there and the damage it can do.  Someone can enter enviroments saftly and can coexist, the risk being what they are.

Every animal is more scared of us, than we are of them.  No need to worry about any of these unless you purposely mess with or corner them.
Besides ticks, they make sprays for that.

i kinda feel i should say that being scared wasnt my angle here.  And the snake was hit by a car not by myself, but these where some of my pictures.  I appreciate the truth about humans.  And the alligator actually a toy.  But i was just discussing that while searching i came across these incredible creatures.  Just discussing, i have found with a good stick in hand there isnt much that you can come across that will prevent further foraging.

Insects have been the most aggressive.  Bees, mos&itos,
Different bacteria, ..Lyme disease, luckly if you get ticks off the bacteria doesent get a hold i read that on the www.cdc.gov website this year.

Grow you some peppermint, and rub the leaves over any exposed skin or around opening in clothing.  Insects/mosquitos, ticks don't like the smell and will not be agressive. 
Simple solution if you don't want to grow them go buy you a couple from the store.

Chiggers are a real motherfucker around here. They seem less deterred by bug spray. Does peppermint work for them?

Yes any type of mint plant will work, peppermint, spearment, theres a few others I can't remember off the top of my head.

I do that too, it's good temporary relief.

Last summer I had like 75 bites one time and like 50 another time. Not great for sleeping.
