LSD Purity?

I've read the several articles about LSD purity these days, and I'm still not sure what to think. I am _much_ more interested in trying LSD if I could be convinced I could get pure LSD (no related synthesis byproducts mixed in, like a non laboratory synthesis would create) like was produced while it was legal. I've heard that the original acid was much more mystical, life changing and profound, while "street" acid is more of a crazy trip... Basically, if possible, I want to take the stuff that inspired Lennon, Morrison, Kesey and Leery, and I'm not convinced anything so pure is around now... is there anyone who has tried pharmacy quality LSD (either now or then) and "street acid" who can compare them, or is there no real difference?

LSD 25 is LSD 25 pretty much. Some forms of crystal are more pure like needlepoint and white fluff, but it's the same drug, regardless. The thing is, that the doses back then were often 5-10 times stronger than today's doses (for the most part). that's why people had more visionary trips (also the social climate of the day was more conducive to that kind of thing). That's also why alot of people had "freak out" trips back then. I don't hardly ever hear of that kind of thing these days.

I guess my question was about the current synthesis processes. Back then the chemical was made in a pharmaceutical lab that had the sophisticated equipment to make sure _everything_ they produced was LSD-25. Now, my understanding is (Both from reading and from talking to a friend with a good knowledge of chemistry) most processes will produce a lot of closely related chemicals, other lysergic acids and such(ALD-52 for example), that are related compounds, with similar potencies, but don't have the same effects as pure LSD.

Personally, it's put me off on trying "acid" until, if ever, I can be presented with something that's pure... I know that there's no physical danger, but I don't want a compromised experience :smile:

Any thoughts?

I think what affects the trip the most is the actual dosage on the blotter, and the set and setting you're in. Your environment has the most to do with how you trip. Search for a thread by Chinacat72 called LSD cyrstal to blotter. It descirbes this stuff. I think he said it really only matters with purity when taking riduculous doses. I've taken silver and amber, crazy thoughts on both. I did however get a stiff neck on the amber.

Street LSD is still good man. You can have insanely profound thoughts and trip out on LSD you buy from a dealer.

I agree.  I probably won't ever get real lsd so I'll take all the acid I can get which, sadly, is none. :sad:

Wow, that Erowid article was pretty interesting.
I've never used acid but all my freinds who have tell me that it was a very artificial chemical feeling and it made them feel like shit comming down. However, Albert Hoffman claims that he had no hangover or crappy feeling after using LSD. In most of the early literature dealing with LSD researchers and writers claimed that the chemical left no lingering side effects. Perhaps it is the impurities that give people that nasty chemical feeling and hangover?
Just a thought.

I don't thinkyou could produce acid in anything but a good pharm lab.
Even the "cooks" out here need quite a bit of equip.
I also have not seen acid in quite a few years. South Florida area.
I sure would appreciate hearing any ideas on where to look.

PS ALD-52 converts to LSD once in the body. Orange Sunshine back in the day (early 70s) was usually ALD-52.

I've been reading chinacat's posts about the family and the whole elaborate process involving the distribution of LSD, and that's shed some new light onto the mystery for me. I still wonder on the purity of it though- those involved say it is pure LSD-25, but other articles have lead me to believe preserving the product as such (much less making it!) would be very difficult without sealing the individual doses in inert gas inside pills- the way Sandoz distributed it.

Timothy Leary was tripping on acid well into his last days. I wonder what he thought of acid today comapared to the Sandoz stuff.
