Consider posting to a thread that's about your problem.

huh?

let it colonize 100%, then give 7 more days for consolidation. then birth. and the beauty of cakes(considering you are going to fruit them individually in a SGFC) is that if some finish before others, you can set them in there as the are ready.

good luck.

Hi, this is my first post on this site, although lurking for some time already. I inoculated 4 1/2 quart jars 2 days ago, and now there are black dots surrounded with orange colored (?). Its my second innoc, the other jars before are colonizing atm and are looking good (a bit slow tho, i think the grain went too dry). I thought it might be a bacterial contamination bc of not letting the grains drain enough to get all the heat/moisture off the grain shells (and reusing the syringe without PC'ing it ), but i want to be sure and know which kind of bacteria it is - or maybe its a mold ? I already learned from the mistake, but it would help a lot if someone could identify the contam, and maybe - if it helps - the pic could be added to the initial post. Sorry for the pic quality, i took a magnifying glass to get a sharper image, hope its sufficient  :eyeball: . If not i can take more pics ofc :sun:

And i used the forum search inbefore, just couldnt find something similar with pictures (either deleted or none uploaded)...

cheers, nozir0h

That's rust.. from drilling the jar lids while they were on the jars.

Looks like bacteria to me. I would case and top fruit that one.

All jars are pretty much 100% wanted to spawn today. Majority of them have those red/brown specs and only a few have concentrated clusters. I sterilized at 15psi for 90 minutes followed the teks to a T. I guess shit just happens. So you're saying I should case these tubs?

I would case the jar itself. I imagine that would end up green if you spawn it. You should make a new thread for this if you want opinions and advice.

A light case of bacteria, I would just spawn them as usual after giving them some more time to attempt filling in those still bare spots.
Risky of course, casing the jar is a good safe idea, you'll have less yield, but you'll have a yield!

I have actually had pretty darn good luck just casing the grain. A little bottom watering goes a ways and it is often good for several flushes. Course not as good as a healthy mono but a lot better than a trich bomb.

Cased bacterial grains
