Id lay the stalled jar on its side. This may allow the heavier CO2 to dissipate through the filter. I try to avoid letting grains sit against the filter .

Ive read that too much CO2 can cause stalling, and to remedy this by laying jars on their side. No bueno?

First CO2 will not build up to the point of causing stalling in a properly filtered jar.

Second it doesn't sink to the bottom so laying it on its side does nothing. People say to flip PF cake jars if they stall but that had nothing to do with CO2, its because they using tall jars and the substrate became compact at the bottoms. Flipping takes some of the pressure off and might allow them to finish.

Third the jars in question are grain spawn jars, he shook it, it's not recovering. That means it's bacterial and needs to be chucked.

Hope that helps

Just wondering why the hell this thread is not stickied... Such an immensely valuable collection of information - WITH PICTURES! Especially for noobs like me, text descriptions are often less useful because we don't know the terms; eg. you could tell me all about what rhizomorphic mycelium looks like but without pictures I wouldn't have understood at all.

And especially for newbies to this forum (again, like myself) having this post not stickied made it that much harder to find. I made sure to read all the stickied threads but this post just offers so much more of the information I needed.

Threads don't get stickied much but you could request it to go in the Cultivation Archive forum (which I just discovered after 6 years on the forum...

I never look in the cult archive because I automatically assume everything there is old as fuck.  So, this would probably just get lost among everything else there.

If they started sticky-ing all the threads with good info, you wouldn't see the posts before the 3rd page.

It's up to folks like us to spread the love that is good information by posting links.

Hi there,

- Rye grains + gypsum in 200ml jar inoculated with multispore PC GT
- cased with vermi/coir/gypsum
- jar had also little flys which were eating the myc
- I recognized this (the flys and the abnormality) after the second flush
- shrooms looked normal and healthy
- this is day 57 after inoculation and day 29 in fruiting (very slow growing)

I think it shouldn't look like this?

Most forums solve this by having a sticky post with links to valuable threads. Perhaps an idea here, but I'm too much of a noob to know who to contact about it.

Before I started writing this post I suddenly realized that everything I do is a form and pattern of consolidating shit.
(this entire thread, all my projects, articles I write, the poster below)
Weird.

So here is what I've been up to for the last 2 years, I know it's not cultivation related.
I spent the last 2 years photo-documenting every interesting wild mushroom I could find in FL, to make this (huge)poster.
An attempt to describe the immense fungal diversity in a small area.
Every photo has a species & genus ID listed. Several species on this poster are edible, several deadly, several medicinal,
several totally unknown, and several are hallucinogenic. :mushroom2:

Just wanted my friends here to see it, since I can't contact you elsewhere.

Stay Shroomy.

Do you have a high resolution version of the poster?

You should lease the printing rights to the shroomery for a year and see if they can sell posters of it to raise money for the site.

Or sell it yourself on etsy. But I like the idea of supporting the community.

That's pretty cool. I would definitely buy one if shipping to europe isn't too extreme. Let us know when they are available and from where.

I think it's quite atrocious. As in, it would double the price of the poster.

I guess that will depend on the original price  I looked for some posters in the past and the couple of nice ones I found were over 15 british pounds IIRC. They had nowhere near the amount of pics/illustrations that you have there though.

Hello guys I knocked up 12 jars close to a month ago I have healthy mycelium growth in all 12. Should I wait to birth until all substrate peels off the inside of jar ? Wow so many questions just overwhelmed with info thanks for any help in advance.

Peels off? That's a first for me.

It depends on what kind of jars they are. If they are cakes, you should consolidate them for a week or so after full colonization. Then you take them out, dunk in water, roll in verm and fruit. If they start pinning before the week is over, you can dunk, roll and fruit at that time.

If you are using grains, you can go ahead and spawn them once they are fully colonized.
