Only use the heater if the room is colder than 60F. Otherwise use it as a table and don't turn it on.

60F is a little low, Id say if his room is under 65 he might wanna have the heater turn on periodically , get it up a few degrees.

Do you have holes on all six sides of your tote? 1/4" holes in 2 x 2" grid on all side sides ?

Yes, SGFC to spec, 2x2 1/4 inch holes on all 6 sides. 19 degrees inside the chamber, 20 degrees in room. Heater on and heating room, chamber on table.

I think you may have it.  Keep the perlite nice and moist and you should be golden.  That and mist the cakes every time they appear dry.

Why can't I put the chamber above the heater please?

because it's gonna dry the hell out. Quick. I promise you.

You'd have to remoisten the perlite fairly regularly.

It's better to have ambient temperature, rather than blasting your fruiting chamber with direct heat. It's always hotter nearest the heater than it's making the room. Doing that would not only be direct heat but you could easily raise your temps in your FC to 80 plus which would be bad.

use 4 jars to raise the sgfc of the table or bottom holes are useless.

Dont get hung up on humidity dude, Im not saying you are Im just putting it out there not to pay it any mind..
The actual humidity percentage from a hydrometer isnt of any use for  us

I grew shrooms in a fishtank once... 10 or 15 years ago.

What a fucking disaster compared to modern teks.

I think the heater is a good spot for it, allows for air movement under the tub. Just don't turn on the heater, and if you need to use it for a cold night it needs to heat the room not the tub.

It looks like you don't have holes below the perlite.
Are there holes in the bottom of the tub? What about the lid?

Yes there are heaps of holes on the lid and the bottom, 2x2 1/4"

I'm guessing that all that airflow is ok as long as the perlite is moist

Was the aquarium in winter not a good idea? I could've drilled holes in the lid to aid the exchange of pressure from the heated water. * I mean, the air would flow from the heated water up through the holes, condensing as it rises.

Since for some reason, no one has posted this, here you go.

Principles of SGFC

Also, check out the first link in my sig.
It is about monotubs, but the physics are the same. Lots of info on how airflow works in there.

Btw, I tried using a 2 gallon aquarium to grow recently. I used it in open air.
The only reason I used it is because I had 1 quart of spawn and it was the right size.
I've been referring to it as my 'neglect chamber'.

It put out a decent first flush, but it was all side pins.
It dried out so hard after the first flush that getting a second seemed impossible. Even after a dunk, it kept drying out way too fast.
Wouldn't even make side pins anymore.

Read this and understand it.  If you think your aquarium setup can be as sophisticatedly simple as this, then by all means.
