Sociopaths and Dating * 1
    #23194266 -

I'll give everyone the benefit of the doubt, but mostly curious about other sociopaths or people who have sociopathic tendencies.

For the most part I enjoy being alone. The only time I consider that I may be feeling some sort of "void" of companionship is in the company of others and not being able to relate.

Then it's always either, am I dating for real? Or am I just finding a "cover" ?

The worse for me is longevity. It's not just dating but friendships too, hard for me to stick around for long. Though if that same person contacted me years later, I could pick things up normally. It could be a matter of what "value" does the person have, or are they still interesting or have become boring etc.

I don't really understand this idea of severing relationships. It's more like a constant wheel, occasionally it turns and stops for someone but the momentum picks up again, and it turns and the people around you are different, or you may come across someone you know previously.

So rationally speaking, there seems to be little point. I then wonder if the "void" feelings are just a matter of a biological need for companionship.

Regardless, if there are others who have similar thoughts I was interested in hearing them.

I've been trying to maintain more meaningful friendships lately and people interested in dating got me thinking again.

I can really relate to your story here. My circle of friends changes so frequently and most of the time id rather be alone. I just keep company when im doing something that is actually fun in a group otherwise i have no use for them. I feel like when i am judging a relationship with a person its based on what can that person do for me or how are they useful in my life. Its just that ive met sooo many people and moved around so much that no one really amazes me anymore it really does seem like people all fall into some category personality wise. Its really not bad to be an introvert if thats really who you are dont try to change it cause youre just going to put yourself in uncomfortable situations. When the right person does come along they'll manage to stay in your life and you will naturally be willing to make time for them if you really care.

Right. I don't really feel responsible to keep these people around, and it always is a 'shame' but its unrealistic to say that it doesn't happen. For my close friends, they basically said they don't misread me anymore, just know that's "how I am". I agree that being an introvert isn't bad. Perhaps it feels more like we live in a world where the introvert isn't as ideal as in the past. Many traits of introverts can be a form of survival characteristic in other situations.

Today a friend from like 14 years ago says she no longer wants to be friends. She seemed down and I did something unusual for me, which was to invite her out - I suggested a broadway show, rainbow bagels, just whatever normal shit that seems fun. Anyways she somehow felt offended and manipulated. That's me trying to be friendly.
Others consider me friendly, but there's really little I've done, other than listen. Which isn't like out of the way, that's just how I experience people. Fundamentally, most ust want to feel heard. It requires little "effort". When I am expected to do things out of my character, that's when I feel an obstacle - especially when completely "normal" expectations are not in line with my personality. Even if I genuinely felt I cared about someone, there is an expiration date. Just waves, always fleeting.

well there are a few different types of Sociopaths.  Being one who always fought for good and know how to handle your demons and admitting it. We are a product of our environment  what ever has happened to you is on the other person. Not you

Yeah. If anything it just seems more like a hindrance at times. I also wonder if it has made me drawn to overly emotional or insecure people, in the past.

Being a male and a "victim" of "abuse" its what I grew up with.  It was all I knew for a long time. It took a lot of work on myself to even get to this point. You can only move so far in any type of abusive relationship.
