im confused, u would choose the tattooed guy cause he kept it classy?

go with the other guy (without tattoos) based on OPs tattoos, if all other things were equal.

Again it my not be right, but you represent the organization, and the image they wish to uphold, so it is entirely possible your tattoos will negatively impact you at some point in life.  Just a bit of advice from the corporate world.

I've got half sleeves on both arms and a chestpiece and it's never impacted any job in any way. Cause I wear a shirt.
But even visible full sleeves are not really looked down on in many professions these days. Some.. more than others.

Just don't get face/neck/hand tattoos and you wont be instantly judged by 99% of society as a scumfuck.
Hands are a grey area.. depending how well done they are / what it consists of, does it fit etc.
Face and neck.. yeah you have to be either one of the most hardcore tattoo addicts out there and have run out of skin or are from the bottom dredges of society, or are from some crazy tribe, or just have something to prove. Most people instantly equate face tattoo with psychopath, and they would be right for a lot of them.

Sleeves? what the fuck ever. I can't think of hardly any jobs where that would actually hold you back in any way, provided you have the qualifications. And sleeves can always be covered/hidden.
There is office dudes who are practically covered head to toe in tattoos that you would never know unless they showed you because they don't tattoo their face/neck/hands.

Working in industrial construction I was under the impression that tattoos were far more acceptable than they used to be. One of the guys I used to work with got the inside of his mouth tatted when he finished with his face.

Really people without tattoos were regarded with suspicion. But now I work in an uptight office now and kinda stand out. It's definitely still very setting orientated.

I know MDs with tattoos, ones that are visible when they're wearing scrubs. They are not only employed, but highly regarded in their specialty.

My tattoos can be covered with a t-shirt but for my chest tattoo sometimes peeks out of a loose fitting collar and I do like it when that happens because it hints that I'm hip. I never got sleeved because I didn't want to look at one same picture for every day haha. I guess it's for each person to decide how crazy to be.

Honestly if your enthusiastic about working and your knowledgable i don't see why people should put you aside because of some ink, even though it does happen i disagree with it, its a stereotype if you ask me.

I agree. Theres definitely stereotypes with tatts.

I think even more so with people who have face and neck tattoos and them being "trashy" or "scummy", the image of thugs/criminals. I think there is some truth to that, but of course not all people who have face and neck tattoos are trashy crinimals, just a large percentage who have face and neck tattoos are it seems

That shit is just so fucking silly. This gentleman must be a better worker he has more relatable fashion sense.

Lol

Seriously silly shit.
When did things like fashion and style and personal choice of appearance become more important at jobs than work ethic, intellect, knowledge, charisma, personality.......?

Anyone that propagates that way of thinking needs a reality check.

Since the beginning of business!

maybe back then it wasnt as accepted but now its much more accepted I believe

Its much more accepted if you want to be the general manager at taco bell maybe. Coming from somebody who works in chemistry, visible tattoos are still regarded as somewhat "tacky" and whatever else comes with that. Its just not viewed as "professional". Sorry man. Wish it was different, but its not.

Yep, agreed.

if you want to be safe, just avoid tattoos on your hands, neck, and face--most professions where tattoos may be perceived as a disadvantage are environments where long sleeved shirts are completely appropriate and you can simply cover up--lots of canvas on the body in places that don't require constant visibility

if you wanna wear short-sleeves, keep the ink above the elbow--if your work is done shirtless, than tattoos probably aren't an issue

people will judge you--not everyone, but enough--even tho it's true perspectives are changing and what was once unacceptable is now becoming standard, for many people tattoos still carry the unsavouriness of criminality

i intentionally have some very visible tattoos (hands and face), partly due to the fact that i know some people will judge my character based off of these shallow aspects of the self and decide i'm not worth getting to know--the way i figure, saves me the time finding out they are judgmental assholes somewhere down the line

Sort of true. Tattoos are a way of hiding socially in plain site in regard to this statement. Sort of anti-social social.
