Funny Job Interview

I had the strangest job interview today.
About a year ago, my cousin sends me an email from Vancouver. "Check out this website". Ok, these guys make games for the Gameboy Advance. They don't have any published yet. So I apply and nothing. A year later, or 2 months ago, I see a help-wanted ad in Game Developer magazine, so I applied again. These guys still don't have their game published. So I figure they must be broke, or have no good programmers, and need a real programmer to make their game.
They send me a long programming quiz and I write it within a few days, send it back. Then I get a phone call out of the blue and I did "very good" on the test, please come in for an interview.
That was today. Their office is located in a run-down poor part of the city, but as I drive up to it there are lots of expensive cars parked around. I walk into the office and its a mess but there are like almost 20 people working there.
The president interviews me. This is where it gets really wierd...
Regular interview questions, lots of discussion about programming, games, why I like games, etc. bla bla bla... then... the question:
Pres: "Do you have a criminal record?"
Me: "Yep."
Pres: "What for?"
Me: "Possession of narcotics."
Pres: "Oh, which ones?"
Me: "Marijuana and mushrooms."
I dont lie, because I dont care. His eyes light up.
Pres: "You still doing them?"
Me: "Nope."
True, I have only smoked weed on one day in the last couple months (thanks Sally and Sonny). Not because I dont want to, but because I'm taking a break. Pres: "Oh come on. Just admit it, its ok."
He starts talking about drugs and how they are acceptable and that if I worked at his company, it would be ok for me to do drugs. Man, my mind was blown. I hope I get a job here was all I could think about. They'll let me know on Monday if I am in!

hmm
some of the worst interviews end pleasantly. I wouldn't expect much if all you discussed if your drug use record. Although you did fine on the test...
Writing stuff for the gameboy would kick ass.

i remember reading about the burning man festival, and how theres alot of big silicon valley people that go there, and do drugs.
i think steve jobs (apple ceo) has mentioned acid once or twice, and Bob Wallace (RIP), an early microsoft guy and ran promind books, he contributed alot to the psychedelic community.
and i know from working at a web design agency that alot of people like to experiment with drugs. more so than other areas work.
anyway, hope you get it!

The best job interviews I have ever had came from times that I didn't care about getting the job.

Have you ever noticed that the appearance of Lsd and the digital computer revolution share a similar timeline. I think there is a connection there. That is, without the aid of Lsd, I doubt we'd be where we are now in terms of computer inventions, internet, virtual reality, etc.
Acid seems to be more of a 'technology' drug, where shrooms are more of a 'nature' drug. If that makes any sense...

Yeah, I was trippin shrooms once and went to type on my computer, and I found the computer to be so freakin strange.......almost like it was too un-natural for me to stand.

hmmm.. if you think about it, acid is a child of modern technology, while shrooms have always been around.

I was at a friends apartment the other night and we decided to go drink beers up on the top floor. There were walls surrounding the floor, with windows to look at the city.
We got up there and drank a while, then started getting bored.
Curiosity made me start exploring, and we climbed up onto the higher roof. Now, there were no walls, just a plain open view. Its scary standing on the edge of a thirty story building and looking over. But it was breathtaking. I was downtown and could see the entire city from a 360 degree view.
I thought: it might be scary tripping on shrooms up here, but on acid, it would be a blast.

There are very few Nintendo games that DON'T have drug refrences in them... think about it! Doing drugs probably gives you a 'creative' advantage in this thing... Good luck, and let us know if you got it!
