is it worse to kill a mosquito, than a redwood?

Nah, it's all just meaningless self mutilation.

Thanks I needed that :shineon:

I literally never spout this kinda stuff in person cause I hated hearing it before I stopped eating meat.

There is no easy answer I agree there is a certain sentience to plants and its hard to justify killing one form of life over another. It's a lot easier to relate to an animal than a plant though. I truly believe that the same life that lives behind my eyes is the same that lives behind a cows eyes. I just have a different meat vehicle and different environment and upbringing. I'm not so sure about plants though...

My biggest reasons for ditching flesh is the sustainability and health side of it.

Yeah, no problem. I've actually had a shroom trip about that.

the first step is to stop supporting industrial scale farming (be it for plants or animals), which i'm sure you have done

next, to recognize the gift you have received from the earth in providing the means to sustain yourself (i often leave gifts when i go hunting or gathering) and to respect the life that gave it's energy up to you by not wasting any part of it (once again, regardless of whether it was plant or animal)

it's just as bad to gather a bunch of edible mushrooms to let them rot, as it is to kill an animal and let parts go to waste--neither is respectful of life

a large portion of my meat comes from dumpsters and fresh roadkill too! waste not want not!

There is a documentary called Food Matters I've seen, and it shows people getting a bunch of free meat to feed their family that is still good but is thrown away into the dumpster by big stores at the end of the day due to policy. Not all the stores do this. Some actually give the food away that they would have thrown out.
