Re: Excuses for "Operation Iraqi Liberation" [Re: silversoul7]

They have already planned for YEARS of war. It doesn't matter if Americans won't stand for it, they do it anyway!
I hate to say this but don't hold your breath Learyfan, they aren't stopping anytime soon unless something drastic happens.

The continued support for Bush has convinced me that there is no end to how much bullshit the American people will swallow.

maybe their not just swallowing bullshit..but rather the whole mass culture is inherantly pro-agression...

Okay... I think I've got it now.

Bush must publicly repudiate the current leader of Uzbekistan -- maybe even add Uzbekistan to the Axis of Evil club. Until he does so, the deposition of Hussein is invalid.

Exactly!

There's nothing wrong with "liberating" the people of another country, who live under a brutal dictatorship!

But why make shit up about it beforehand just to make sure you get the approval?

The Bush administration must think Americans are pretty dumb people... :smirk:

Trendal, you're missing the point here.

If Bush was really concerned with the oppressed peoples of a country run by a brutal dictator, he wouldn't be buddy buddy with another brutal dictator.

So one may not depose a terrible dictator unless one deposes all terrible dictators?

Must they all be deposed simultaneously, or is it permissible to take them on one at a time?

What was the reason they are being deposed again? why are they being taken on? what classifies a 'terrible dictator', or is it just a leader who doesn't agree with americas point of view? "your either with us or against us"~bush

Learyfan, I in no way think that Bush had the Iraqi peoples' well-being in mind for going to war with Iraq.

However at the moment that's kind of hard to prove, isn't it? So I find it better to point out the misinformation leading up to the war. There's just more to go on right now.

good thread, no real answers.

go out and get your friends and family to vote.

I've spent the last 3 months trying to speak
with my family members about this, most
importantly, the stubborn, fox news fed
few who still believe we've found WMD and
that arabs are evil.

?I don?t want to talk about it?

?I?m not going to vote for those silly democrats?

?They should just kill them all?

it?s like arguing with a rock...

(I went ahead and pasted them all together)

I send pictures like this or that link to the apache or even
the article about the 1.5 billion pr campaign for marriage
to them.

then press them about it when they try to ignore the
emails.

if they refuse to address simple fact and reality, then I
can do nothing more than laugh at them...they are
reasonable enough people to know when they are
being unreasonable.

and if they can live with the fact that their unreasonability
may allow all the death and destruction to continue on
another four years...then it is not for me to judge, but
for their god.

praise allah!!!

praise allah, most merciful!!!

Although I'm not sure of its accuracy I would read the following site http://free.freespeech.org/americanstateterrorism/#Iraq the guy who wrote it goes a bit over the top in places but mellow it down & makes alot of sense. For example if we are on a humanitarian mission why did "the coalition of the willing (*cough* Bush & Blair *cough*)" poison the Iraqi people's water supply against UN conventions? Also why do they use internationally banned weapons like cluster bombs that usually don't explode and get set off by little kids finding them a few years later? Futhermore if it was about ridding the world of nuclear weapons why does america continue to develop it nuclear capabilities and use depleted uranium in its bombs? Yet again unhumanitarian as causes cancer and birth defects for many years to come.

As Che once said "There are no such things as liberators. The people liberate themselves."

Oh and lets not forget the incredible coincidence that Iraq sits on top of 40% of the known world oil reserves! I'm sure that had nothing to do with our "liberation"  efforts there...  :shake:

Please provide us with links to quotes from Bush or any member of his cabinet ever saying Saddam was involved with the attacks on the WTC and Pentagon on September 11, 2001.

Thank you.

Ok, let's just say the administration never said or insinuated that Saddam had a hand in 9-11. That leaves two other excuses that have been proven false.
