Yeah. Lots and lots of meat :V
No seriously, I probably eat 100g of protein or so a day. Just stick to meat, veggies, dairy, etc. and go low on the carbs. One thing you'll notice, especially if you go out to eat a lot is how much of each meal is crap carb filler food. It's that way because stuff like rice and pasta are cheap. Meat is expensive.
Another thing you can do is just drink lots of milk, especially 1%. When I was gaining that's what I did. When you do the math it doesn't really make sense to drink protein shakes for the protein. Maybe for the vitamins and stuff if you get Muscle Milk or something similar that has been supplemented with damn-near-everything, but if just for the protein, well milk has lots of protein and complete protein at that.
Stuff like eggs and beans too, but to a lesser extent. Eggs are a large percentage protein (especially cooked, which increases bioavailability) but aren't many calories total if you look at it compared to other things.
It sounds like you want high protein and not high calorie though. If you cut carbs you'll likely end up with a high-protein diet anyway just by tipping the scale. (no pun intended)

I was in the best shape when I was eating low-carb, high protein.
My normal daily intake looked like this.
Breakfast:
Oatmeal Scoop of peanut butter Banana Two eggs
Lunch:
Fruit and chicken salad
Dinner:
Chicken Breast with peppers, onions and vegetables and maybe some rice
And certain snacks in between, like vegetables or fruit.
This is what worked for me.

Yesterday:
breakfast #1: 4-egg omelette with avocado, spinach, mushroom, onion and chicken teriyaki, potatoes, coffee
breakfast #2: Jack in the box loaded breakfast combo w/ hash browns
lunch: sweet and sour pork with rice from the Chinese place downstairs
dinner: frozen burritos I think (6 of them?)
Those frozen burritos sure have a lot of protein... Yeah

I consume about a gram per lb of body weight a day. This is what I've found to work best for me.

Honestly the biggest ones that helped me eggs peanut butter and greek yogurt.
When I would bulk, which i should probably start making them again I would have a post workout shake. half whole milk, half chocolate milk, 30 grams of whey usually choc or van flavor, 3 eggs (18g's) and then 2 table spoons of peanut butter. Oh and a cup of oatmeal so thats another 17 i think with those. 60 grams of protein all from different sources, good carbs, some fast acting sugars to get your insulin up and recover going and some nice fats in there.
I really need to start making these again. and a tuna sammich does sound good. Nice tuna melt

I buy those pouches of it that come seasoned, there are some really tasty ones too. There's a Thai one which is great, and a ranch one. I try to eat fish about 2-3 times a week, good source of clean protein and goes well with any of the noodle dishes I make.
I find a meal of Soba noodles with a couple of Thai tuna packets in there is wonderful for recovery after a long intense ride.

Just make sure you are eating a lot of veggies/fruit or taking supplements as well.
I drink fruit/veggie/protein smoothies every day and it provides lots of calories, vitamins, and takes up little, valuable stomach space, so that's always a good idea.

Honestly, this is a little excessive. I mean, it can't hurt you and I support all these food choices, especially post workout...but it's just wasting money. You are pissing out likely nearly half of that protein. I think you would have same results if you cut all of that in half. And save money while doing it
And whole there may be a few good carbs in the milk, new studies are showing that carbs with a high glycemic index are best in the post workout window(white potatoes, white rice, etc)
But I too consume all these. And one gram per pound of body weight is ideal like you say. My diet has went to shit the past two months Tho. Normally my average day looks like this
Morning
Cup of oatmeal and blueberries with a glass of 1% milk
OR
3 eggs, slice of toasted quinoa bread and glass of 1% milk
For my second meal I like my smoothie:
Half a scoop of high quality isolate protein, creatine, cup of milk, bananas, 1 heaping tablespoon of peanut butter
Lunch
Chicken(roughly 30 to 35 grams of protein in my servings), small amount of yams or turnips or sweet potatoes, and a heaping serving of steamed veggies
Meal 4
Tuna or big serving of Greek yogurt, possibly some fruit to snack on or handful of almonds. Maybe some hard boiled eggs
Meal 5
Fish, chicken or steak. More steamed veggies. Yams, turnips or sweet potatoes. Spaghetti squash with a thick meaty sauce is a great choice too. Big portion. My meals are never carb dense
Meal 6
I usually end the day with some Greek yogurt, whole milk and a combo protein supplement in a smoothie. The milk helps it absorb slower while im sleeping
Of course this isn't strict and just a rough idea. And I sneak some fruit and sometimes meat snacks in there
I'm definitely not eating like this right now and it shows

Hence the chocolate milk. high g index. tons of sugar in it. and ive tried the lower dose protein diets man, can not gain weight on them. when i say 1 g per lb of body mass i do so because thats what ive found to work best for my body when trying to get stronger or bigger. I was also cursed with my mothers metabolism. woman use to eat fast food 4 times a day in her 20's and had abs.
The shakes were pretty much on par with alot of the mass gainer shakes made at vitamin shops and shit. Gained mass like a madman then too. that was when i had to keep buying new shirts and shorts because of my back and legs lol.
I really do wish I could get more fish in my diet. I don't trust seafood to much out here though. too far/ hot from the coast.

While I said I agree with 1gram of protein per pound of body weight, I was trying to say that having 60 grams of protein in one serving is a waste. Mainly, waste of money. You could use half of everything in your smoothie and get same results/benefits
But your saying you need 60 gram protein servings? Fair enough. I find it hard to believe that not much of that is waste(30 grams a serving should suffice), but each body is different I suppose
The sugar and other crap in chocolate milk, while not terrible, aren't the best
The fast acting sugars in fruit, for example, aren't considered ideal anymore. White potatoes, white rice, etc, are considered the best
But I'm a sucker for chocolate milk too

That's so ridiculous lol. Half of that doesn't even absorb. Id use half a scoop
But I guess if it's calories you are going for, might as well get them from protein

as far as sugar goes post workout insulin is insulin man. My thinking behind the shakes was a good amount of protein for my body, I know there was a study a while ago touting 30g's being ideal but there were multiple areas not taken into consideration. Good read here when you've got the time. http://www.begin2dig.com/2010/02/30g-of-protein-per-meal-for-optimal.html All 60 grams being used? Maybe not, but I'd rather over shoot than under shoot ya know? Better to get the 56.72 grams my body needs post workout ( keep in mind too bulking means alot of isolation for me man) than only get 30 and not get the most of it.
You may even benefit from more than just 30'gs a day depending on workload man.
