Quit weed over 6 months ago but only minimal increase in motivation
    #21598534 -

I've got casual work in this time, made some money etc but generally am not much more motivated to do anything meaningful. I have been drinking more in this time, in fact I'm drunk right now
I guess I just have to force myself to do something and get motivation/momentum.

Its the exact opposite for me. the main benefit I've seen from abstaining is lowered social anxiety

My behaviours just haven't changed much. I still stay at home most the time, wishing I was a better more confident person etc I know I can't blame anything/anyone but myself for my life though

You're probably right. Most of my lack of confidence is because I'm a fat bastard

All the bullshit the media spouts about marijuana causing "amotivational syndrome" is bullshit.

I smoke a lot of weed, the only reason I stay inside my house is because I hate driving, plain and simple. I hate driving because 90% of the people on the roads are assholes (texas, go figure.) Why don't you take an online course or an at home course in something you enjoy and then get certified or something? Read a book, learn how to cook, etc etc etc.

There's a lot of things one can do at home.

Because you hate driving? That's a strange reason to stay home most of the time

I hate driving in Atlanta too where traffic is arguably worse than Texas. That doesn't mean im gonna stay inside and not do the things I wanna do. Sounds like a piss poor excuse to me

Drinking regularly, at least for me, gave me horrible anxiety which fucked up my motivation to go out and stuff.
Exercise is good, being generally healthy helps everything else fall into place.
I'd quit drinking. Alcohol kills the body and soul.

Yeah I think alcohol might be doin it to me. Since I've quit weed alcohol has been my only chemical I could really turn to as an escape from reality. I might do psychedelics again someday but now isn't the right time.

Exercise and proper diet has alluded me for a while so I gotta try that and stop drinking

Marijuana doesn't make you lazy, it just makes it easier.  Quiting it isn't going to motivate you.  Make a list of small goals you want to do and try to being more productive each day.  Make a schedule and stick to it, start walking once a day for at least a half an hour and spend that time thinking of how you are going to better yourself.  Lose some weight, improve your diet, be productive.  Its not easy, but its really not that much work.

You're right fapjack, for a while I expected quitting weed alone to just make me motivated but it's so much more, thanks for more advice

A lot of it's alcohol for me. I just work all week at a job I don't genuinely care about while looking forward to getting drunk, that pointless shits gotta stop

Quit drinking, start running

I find running to be an excellent way to improve your overall state of mind

Seriously OP do you expect good things to happen to you without actually doing anything for yourself.  With the advice quoted comes motivation.

There is literally NOTHING to do in texas that doesn't cost money and doesn't require the weather to actually be nice for once. I need to move back home to cali where I belong, THEN I would actually want to leave my house.

But what flapjack said is what I was trying to say. Thanks.

don't blame weed for your problems if you expect to come up with a solution for them
