Swami's Spirituality Class - The Real Deal

Some people here have said that I am frequently negative and have little to contribute. Well, I have decided it is time for serious (and yet, still playful) sharing.

By offering this class, it is not my intent to put myself above you as Master or Teacher; only as a guide who will learn along with you. I will focus soley on this and refrain from starting or entering threads about non-relevant topics.

I will give you the best advice I have from my own life. I will NOT argue any points although I will respond to all earnest posts in an attempt to clarify.

To the disappoint of some, there will be nothing really new presented. The power for growth and change will NOT be in my words, but in the participation, commitment and discipline.

There are only a few things that I ask of those "joining" this subgroup:

1. You must do the exercises as deeply as possible. Casually reading the posts will get you NOTHING. There is no magical "secret".

2. You MUST keep a journal.

3. You MUST make a minimum three-month commitment to yourself, your deity if applicable, the group and to me.

4. You must be TOTALLY honest with yourself at ALL times.

In return, I pledge to be here for each and every one and to share my limited knowledge and wisdom to the best of my abilities.

Am I somewhat apprehensive? You bet. I am naturally opening myself up to ridicule. I have never done this sort of thing before and know that I will fail if I come from a place of ego and not from my center. And yes, this is total improvisation. I have no specific curriculum in mind. I must depend on cosmic guidance (if it exists) to keep me on track and to present relevant material. Socially, this is a high-wire act without a net.

Changing our lives for the better is the ultimate challenge! I will start the first class in a few days depending on the interest level. Who is ready to commit?

Annnnnnd I had a light saber and my friend was there and I said "you look like an indian" and he said "you look like satan" and he found a stick and a rock and he named the rock ooga booga and he named the stick Stick and we both thought that was pretty funny. We got eaten alive by mosquitos but didn't notice til the next day. I stepped on some glass while wading in the swamp and cut my foot open, didn't bother me til the next day either....yeah it was a good time, ended the night by buying some liquor for minors and drinking nips and going to he diner and eating chicken fingers, and then I went home and went to bed.

As you will be teaching yourself, I sincerely hope that you are interested in what YOU have to say. Think of the class, not as me lecturing or spouting wisdom so much as me reminding you to do what you already know and occasionally demonstrating how you might shift your perception.

No belief in me or my words is required.

I get kind of frazzled now & then when I try and wrap my mind around all the incoming data, and I'm often in a state of confusion, but I'll try to stay the course even if I have to let other things go.

BTW, I am not trying to stroke your ego or anything, but you are one of the more interesting posters in this forum so of course I am interested in what you have going on.

I am intrigued Swami.  If it does in fact exist, that is..  cosmic guidance, then something of that nature helped guide you to writing this post.

Let us assume that guidance is available...  While keeping in mind and playfully using your words:  this is a high-wire act without a net.



However, in light of this, you seem to reflect this guidance in a synonymous manner which appears, at first glance to overlap with what I feel and recognize:

Interesting..

I have several now..  Some as words, pictures and sounds.  Keeping notes is the only way to remember faithfully what you once thought.

3. You MUST make a minimum three-month commitment to yourself, your deity if applicable, the group and to me.

Although my commitment has long been underway,  I would like to participate in this project.

4. You must be TOTALLY honest with yourself at ALL times.

This will be one of the toughest challenges of all...  But I think it is possible.  One must keep in mind that the alteration process from misleading one's self to a state of honesty is a slow evolving kind of gradient...  You cannot expect it to flip like a coin. In a sense, you are somewhat re-programming your mind...  You must excercise patience with yourself... By doing so, you also multitask and embrace an important virtue.
