It's kind of a bitch. I score it with a utility blade first. Then I go along the score mark with a Swiss army knife and puncture it a little at a time. I tried using snips on one but I bent the shit out of it.

No problem. I know how hard it can be to get shit at a decent price here. Amazon.ca charges like $20 per blade assembly before shipping. After shipping it costs more than a whole blender at Walmart.

I just noticed how you do your lids. I thought you were still using the rubber gasket from the blender.

i built one like tombosleys, i had a bitch of a time cutting the hole out.

here it is. sloppy as hell but best i could do with one arm.

I definitely want to build a widemouth one.  All my LC lids are widemouth so it would be ballin to have a widemouth for storage purposes.

The first one I made was a wide mouth. I used a plastic lid.



I like the idea of wide mouth for slurry but I find agar just blends better in a smaller jar.
I made a bunch of small mouth LC lids for storage today.

for grain slurry its easier to slap on the wide mouth quarts. but i plan on using pint size regular mouth for my future G2SG jars.

its the opposite for me. i can't find the wide mouth lol.. and ive had these regular mouth pints sitting in the cabinet taking up space. about 11 of them are brand new. finally going to put them to use. now i have to rtv some sfd's to regular mouth lids.

I'm sure I've already asked but are you doing a single plate per jar and if so how many quarts are you spreading it to?

What's your ratios:speed on LI?
Also any update since it colonizes so quickly as to if its better to let it consolidate and "eat" a little bit?

This is my only concern with LI. It seems to colonize the outside of the grains super fast but I worry that by the time its ready to fruit it doesn't have much energy stores.

unfortunately at the time i needed to build them i didn't and i needed mine the next morning. so, ive built it, it works. im too lazy to rebuild this one when i pickup a dremel lol.n i will with future lids. i thought i had one and looked everywhere but apparently not. i must have lost it last move.

A dremel would work well but I don't have one.

I've started using 1 plate to make 2 LIs with around 150 mls of water each. I use each of those LI to knock up between 6 and 12 jars. Colonisation times with that amount of LI are generally between 8 and 10 days for grain jars. It takes a little bit longer for bottle subs to colonise. I don't consolidate my spawn but I do consolidate my bulk and bottle subs.

With the fast colonization would you suggest a consolidation, is that just your normal op, or am I alone in this train of thought?

It's no faster than G2G. There is no reason to consolidate spawn. As soon as it's 100% you want to spawn it to bulk. If you let it consolidate it will move more slowly when colonising your bulk substrate. You only want to consolidate right before fruiting.

I would say no more than a week. If they go to long the sub pulls away from the glasd an you end up with side pins.
