For the second time in an hour this happened to me and the submitted reply did not show up. It's just the notice, but the post is simply not showing up.

If you submit a post to a thread and someone else submitted a post to that same thread between the time you entered the thread and the time your hit the submit button, your post will be halted and you will be notified that someone submitted a post while you were making yours and you will be shown that person's post. This is an optional feature that is on by default and its purpose is that the new reply might have some bearing on your own post. Well, it's somewhat broken in that you now get the notice, but the person's post isn't shown.
