You do realize that if your one-post-per-thread rule were enforced, you would not be allowed to rebut my arguments, don't you? If it doesn't matter (I don't think it does either), then why implement these paranoid commandments of yours.
Here's my final argument:
The post count is not particularly meaningful; I like it, but won't cry if it disappears.
One post-per-thread is a terrible idea IMO, as it will eliminate any kind of debate and will result in many new and redundant threads being opened by people who want to express their opinion in spite of rules against doing so.
A few decidedly pointless threads (beer on wall, ^^^^) are completely harmless, self-contained, and entirely avoidable and ignorable. They aren't fuelled by the desire for a slightly higher post count as much as they are by generic silliness.
Inanity is a part of the Shroomery (and every other internet forum for that matter) and always will be, regardless of any rules made to eliminate it.
Truly rampant and annoying post whores can be given warnings and have their threads locked or deleted.

Seriously though I think maybe some truth needs to be said here.
After reading this thread you can totally see that Papaver and the rest of the whores do love their post count. They try oh so hard to play it cool but look how as soon as its mentioned half a dozen are quickly out of their holes to lay waste to a decent constructive thread. I wonder what these poor fools would do if they did not have the shroomery to spend their time on making silly posts. Maybe this is a haven for otherwise unproductive members of society and we're doing the world a favour.
I don't understand this though, Doobie's thread was the same as this and everybody said the opposite, that there wasn't any point implementing his suggestions so I find it strange that one month later we're here again with complete opposite points of opinion. Quite frankly I think it is too late for the posts in OTD to not count. I think post count in the cultivation forums has a modicum of relevance though I wonder if it really would matter. I would have to say that cleaning up OTD so people can actually talk in it would be nice without a bunch of socks, trousers and puppets making useless comments (often randomly hateful) would be nice though.
Its like a whole different group of people in OTD, half of them probably don't have a single interest in mushrooms atall. They've just found somewhere where they can nest. OTD is full of posts from random people I've never heard of anywhere but the OTD forum itself. I've been reading this board for a long time.. since '98 so I know what I'm talking about. Sure, you've never heard of me but thats because I don't unnecessarily post and my 'status' that I held here is gone. Who knows where it went, but it went.
Anyway, I'll leave it to you to figure out something. It would be nice if a MOD such as papaver would have a constructive comment or opinion - not worthless babble about the sheer dimensions of his post count (which isn't that big compared to the king of them all - PGF). I am aware that trusted members of the community have their own private forum (Cheers) and I thought that the mods here would not do much to OTD because cheers is the more true OTD forum here at the shroomery. Its just a shame that more people don't have access.

I meant that only one post per thread would count towards post count; not that posts should be limited to one per thread. I hope this is sufficiently clear.

Flood control is definitely a solution.
If you could turn flood control on in individual forums I would say bunk it to atleast 2 minutes in OTD (it would be great if it was forum specific, flood control is only needed in one forum).
If it cannot be implemented to only OTD then it really can't be any more than 1 minute or you're going to be making people wait for genuine posts.
Papaver: As a mod and a postwhore you are ruining OTD by condoning the lameness. Bottom line: You don't deserve the position you're in, you're a waste of space. I'm sure you can grow up.
Dare I say make a post whore forum and move all post whore mods to there and bring in some real mods to make OTD about OTD not about how much babble somebody can post.

That's an opinion -- yours. It is but one facet on a complex jewel. I don?t think every one shares this opinion, nor does it make up the entire structure of the jewel. However, I am glad you have a firm grasp on your view, and are willing to share it with all of us. Diversity is a good thing!
