Rich men entering the Kingdom of Heaven . . .
    #19751462 -

Matthew 19:24

Again I tell you, it is easier for a camel to go through the eye of a needle than for someone who is rich to enter the kingdom of God."

Is this the Christian teaching of non-attachment?

What does this verse mean to you?

I don't consider myself rich, more like a middle class type situation basically. So I'm not too worried regarding that particular passage. I think if means something about his how rich men can become selfish and full of sin due to the money going to their head.

Well, I was thinking that a rich man becomes rich (generally) by putting value in such materialistic things. Why would one value riches for reasons other than powers, and if you desire power you are bending or wanting people to abide your will and using them as a means rather than accepting them as an end.

How do you get rich without taking advantage of someone else?

The best slaves are probably the ones that don't know they are being slaves.

Anyways, such actions are in defiance with the golden rule, or consideration of others.

There are no material goods in heaven. There is no need for them because thoughts become reality instantly and automatically. If someone wants to take their wealth and position with them they will be dissapointed to find that they being spirits have all they need and want. A few decades on the material plane or in samsara or whatever terms you wish to use for the Earth sphere can tend to trap you in certain thougth patterns.

It doesn't mean there aren't things, they just don't belong to anyone. Like this guys trying to get more than the other guys sorta thing.

There isn't really a need to try to get over on one another at all, let alone profit. There is nothing to gain, lol.

You don't need or want anything, because you have it all.

People focusing too much of their time on accumulating physical things and not on mental and spiritual growth I guess. Not much point wasting time accumulating things here when you could work towards a better existence.

Although I don't trust every word that comes out of peoples recordings. Even the prophets and disciples couldn't understand every thing yeshua talked about.

Having established for myself thru metaphor the selfishness of extracting fat or moisture from God(god), or even child sacrifice, I wonder what this has to do with millstones, and even to the exact nature of the Kingdom of Heaven.

Who's icp?

I believe in the 'Many Mansions' where people who aren't able to fit anywhere else can exist and support creation.

I think it was more like a word of warning from Jesus. A few versus before that one, a rich man comes to Jesus asking how he can be saved, to which Jesus responds "Sell all of your possessions and give to the poor". When the man refused and left, Jesus said this to his disciples.

An observation that I've made about many rich people is that they can't even fathom that a person wouldn't want to be them. I think the more money one has, the larger their ego expands. I think that's what Jesus was truly warning us about. If that man believed for a second he was honestly going to hell for being rich, he would have sold every thing right there on the spot.

Meanwhile, the churches have more money than anyone.  They don't seem confused who gets paid come Sunday.  And who has the biggest fanciest buildings.

Perhaps that is how the community shares the wealth? To not having something that is belonging to any one, but  belonging to all.

I think the verse is showing the extent of peoples attachment and inherent greed.

I could also see how one might look at it as a method of programming suckers, if material gain is of priority.

It's a nice communistic concept that everyone somehow "shares the wealth" in a charitable organization.  The reality is usually far from that concept.  When I look at real greed, many of these churches and charities fall squarely into that realm.  It's a tax scam as well.  Plain and simple.

Yet there is truth, however people choose to distort it.

To me it doesn't take away from the fact, or intention.

Both the verse and how some people use the verse show that, the irony!

So what it is that makes man inherently greedy do you think?
