blue mushrooms?

sorry if this is in the wrong forum -

my friend said that her friend that is growing p. cubensis has a big batch thats very bluish in color...i would guess something like tihs:

anyways, is this normal?

many species of psilocybe mushrooms bruise a blue color where damaged. this occurs when one of the active chemicals in the mushroom called psilocin oxidizes thus making the psilocin inactive.

buy them if you want. i was just saying that bluing is a naturally occuring thing to happen to an active fungus. not all the chemical is gone, the psilocybin is a really stable one that will still be present even if all the psilocin has oxidized. and alot of mushrooms bruise really blue that are very potent. sometimes it just means that there is more chemical to oxidize but it can also mean that the mushrooms were not handled with care or that the person that dried them did a bad job and didnt put much love into it.

Looks to me like they were in a baggie in the ice box for a few days. hat is here that kind of bluing reaction of a light olor comes from. I have shown pictures of such nblue cubies in the past from strage in plastic bags for a few days for people waiting to make a culture from a section of the cap and the cold oxidises the psilocine.

i dont mind chewing them up and eating them down. dont see how so many people think they taste like crap? to me they are just bland and need a bit of water to go down.

should there be any reason to worry if your cubes dont turn blue?

When ever i harvest my mushrooms never turn blue unless the outer flesh is torn. They turn after drying but not while fresh.

Sick, I eat shrooms plain with a glass of water. Chew em' up real fine and swallow. I don't think I could stand the extra food in my stomach.

OJ man thats the way to go crumble them in a shot glass but a little oj in your mouth shoot the booms and chew and chew and chew then swallow then rinse with some more oj...be shure to get the booms out of you molars...they cause dacay

Blueing can be a good indication in some instances but dont take that as conclusive proof that the shrooms are legit. Some species of poisonous mushrooms bruise blue for some reason. just a little heads up.
