Who controls your thoughts?
    #1910833 -

The following is taken from the movie "Manufacturing Consent by Noam Chomsky"...

In North America there are:

7 major movie studios

and more than:

1,800 daily newspapers
11,000 magazines
11,000 radio stations
2,000 TV stations
2,500 book publishers

23 corporations
own and control
over 50% of the business
in each medium

In some cases they have
A virtual monopoly

They are:
Bertelsmann
Capital Cities / ABC
Cox Communications
CBS
Buena Vista Films
(Disney)
Dow Jones
Gannett
General Electric
Paramount Communications
Harcourt Brace Jovanovich
Hearst
Ingersoll
International Thomson
Knight Rider
Media News Group
(Singleton)
Newhouse
News Corporation LTD.
(Murdoch)
New York Times
Reader's Digest Association
Scripps-Howard
Time Warner
Times Mirror
Tribune Company

(All statistics were taken at the time of the movie's production (1993) and have since most likely significantly changed. AOL/Time Warner/CNN/Earthlink/Brighthouse etc.)

The point is... be(a)ware.

I won't dismiss this statement due to the fact that I don't personally know you. But I would say the percentage of the population who isn't controlled by any of these corporations in some way shape or form is EXTREMELY small.

You should feel special.

How do you know they are aliens, and not just Microsoft?

Only the madman is absolutely sure.

I think the general population will begin to realize their programming at some point. Right now I think most people know something is wrong, if only at a subconcious level. This is the impression I get, anyway.

Wasn't there revision to the Telecommunications act recently that allowed for a LARGER % of ownership of media?

http://rogueimc.org/2003/04/431.shtml

In the early 80's there were 50 corporations controlling the vast majority of all news media in the U.S. By 1992 fewer than two dozen media corporations own and operate 90% of the mass media -- controlling almost all of America's newspapers, magazines, TV and radio stations, books, records, movies, videos, wire services and photo agencies. By the year 2000, the number or media corporations had fallen to six.

Since then, there have been more mergers and the scope has expanded to include new media like the Internet market. More than 1 in 5 Internet users in the U.S. now log in with AOL Time-Warner, the world's largest media corporation.

Generally speaking, I don't think that we control our thoughts. We entertain them.

That's exactly what the entertainment industry would love you to think.
