The drum chick is a bit off-white. Just use your imagination for the rest.

But for realz, this music is awesome. I got myself about 2 gigs of awesome devotional songs, the Bhagavad Gita in audio form, and today I noticed among the song files are also commentaries from the Vedas, all manner of words of wisdom, placed on soothing chill music.
Having listened to the principles of selfless action, doing what one's nature is inclined to do, without want of result or praise, today I found myself painting more, premixing paints, priming walls, getting stuff done, with a sense of meaning and belonging to something greater than myself and alive, positive, a sense that I usually cannot find outside of trips or girls' embraces.
Not sure how long it will last, but for today, at least for a few hours,I found it. Good vibes everyone

Very cool! Love music like this! Shpongle incorporates a lot of similar musical themes in their songs, which is one reason why I love their music. Same with The Beatles. The sitar is probably my favorite musical instrument, next to the electric guitar, of course.

LOVE Hindu songs. I love kirtan. In fact I'm going to a kirtan in LA on Saturday night.

I LOVE that album Markos. I love it so much that I gave my copy away to a friend when she was having hard times. I hoped it would help.
I'm gonna go see this guy on Saturday night
I also REALLY like Sruti Ram and Ishwari

Bear with the minute 45 second interview, and listen to Stephen Mikes and his lady. He is on WLRN Miami here. I've been running into him for over 20 years in Miami, playing at Indian restaurants originally, and at craft fairs. The last time I saw him, he was on stage playing with the late, great Ravi Shankar. We had 3rd row seats. I have his Daytime Ragas, Evening Ragas, and a CD of his called A Sitar Christmas, which are traditional Christmas songs played on sitar. I have watched his work ripen over the last 20 years, and though I no nothing about Indian music other than what I like to hear, but he is really becoming good. I often listen to his ragas when reading. It is true, the evening ragas are more energetic, to compensate for the energy of the sun dissipating, and the daytime ragas have the opposite effect of chilling one out.
Perhaps you might like Sheila Chandra if you're not familiar with her. Lovely voice. She helped me ground a friend, somewhat older than I am during a difficulty he developed on an Entheogenic Excursion. We don't have this particular album, but it is sampling.
