Any libertarian minded larger cities in America?
    #19001731 - 10/19/13 09:55 PM (10 years, 3 months ago)

Is anyone aware of any larger cities here in the states that are more libertarian minded than not? By libertarian i mean low taxes, low regulation/permitting, gun & property rights, etc. I know there are some rural areas like this but i also enjoy aspects of the city so i was wondering if any places like this exist.

I would think the closet thing to what you are looking for would be larger Texas cities. These cities are some of the fastest growing in America.

I think it counts.  I've actually been there and there seemed to be a fair bit going on of interest.

haha i actually just moved out of Boise about a year ago. I was there for five years and fucking loved it, i lived right downtown actually. Had to leave due to circumstances out of my control unfortunately. And it is most definitely a city, its growing extremely fast and also has things going on

I have a colleague who did undergraduate work in Fairbanks, Alaska. He raves about it all the time, especially the "libertarian approach to governance and law", but to me it just sounds remote as hell. And COLD.

Edit: I checked the pop'l on wikipedia and it says 30k. Nevermind, not a large city (at least not in my opinion, I've never lived in a city with fewer than 1M residents).

Not a city like you're looking for, but if you're interested in moving for political reasons, have you heard of the Free State Project?

Well sure. No taxes, with services provided on a pay-as-you-go basic. (those who can pay-get.) Along with general lawlessness and disregard for human life. Sounds like what Dr. Paul's been preaching.

it would better serve you to understand what you are arguing against before making a statement against it.

you obviously do not understand what you are talking about, one of the fundamental principles of libertarianism is that the main role of the government should be protection of the individual from those that would do him/her harm

HA no you are interfering with a citizens autonomy and violating there rights. Your rights end when you start trying to curtail the rights of those around you.
