The sober me is an extremely nocturnal introvert who rarely leaves the house (bordering on agoraphobia at times). 

However, when I trip I MUST do so during the day in the outdoors with other people who are tripping.  Indoor trips are a nightmare every time, as are night trips.  I've never had a good night trip indoors.  My only good trips were in full sun at a large festival with other psychonauts.

Strange how psychedelics turn me into the polar opposite of who I usually am.

My first LSD trip was during dusk, when sunlight was heading down into the sea. Yup, it was at a psychedelic trance beach festival. Started tripping when the sun dived into the ocean, or that is what it seemed to me at the time.
From then on, I've always loved tripping throughout the night. I've done the occasional trip during daylight, but LSD was dropped late afternoon.

Haven't yet to experience any morning and noon trips, yet. However, I've experienced sunrise many times while coming down, it's perfect.

That's not uncommon. This is most likely the personality you repress when sober.

I love tripping during the day as it comes with a lot less anxiety for me. That might be because I had a tough experience one night that took me all the way to the end...
Anyway, now that I met lucy, I might try to go back to night trips just for the fun of it.

I love tripping both night and day - they both have their awesomeness.... honestly i couldn't say one was better than the other for me, they are both different - but awesome.

In my opinion:

Day tripping may lend itself well to a fun, sociable experience but to trip exclusively in daylight is shying away from the real psychedelic experience. I'm not condemning those that do trip only in the light but I think to do so is avoiding the experience. Maybe an exception to this is a DMT breakthrough where the user is more or less removed from their environment by the intense, all consuming nature of the trip.

Tripping at night, and by this I mean tripping in darkness for me has always been a much more significant and meaningful experience. The visuals are much more profound with eyes closed in the darkness. Darkness is a necessity for a real trip. What is a real trip to me? It's directly confronting the experience; watching the visuals and examining their nature, being immersed in them. To open your eyes or switch on the light is escaping from the trip! To be clear, you can trip at night and still avoid the point entirely! Darkness and introspection is a must.

And to those who dose mushrooms and then sit watching a film or playing video games - you're just not psychedelically minded and you're missing the point entirely - I compare what you're doing to running a bath just to wash your hands; wasteful. If you want to do that fine, but don't think you're qualified to speak about the 'psychedelic experience' if you've never had a proper trip as I describe it.

If i had to choose i would say mid day, sunny but as the sun starts lowering, with a mild temperature, not too hot not too cold
