Dude I am just sitting at home on the computer, reading messages. My mate told me to come over to his house to teach the kid a lesson or two, but I said no cause it won't solve anything. I told my mate to do whatever he pleases with the kid. I am a peaceful person.

Or post up flyers with his name and picture stating that he is a thief and vandal running the streets.

Find out where he lives (through some scheme or whatever).

Make sure the bike is actually there.

Visit the house, be cool about it. Say you just want this particular bike back for sentimental reasons.
If you keep it calm he should respect that and man up.

Just in case keep a phone or mp3 in your pocket on record. The bike must be at that location. Refuse to leave without it and eventually they will give it to you. What are they going to do, call the cops?

If the bike can't safely be retrieved, I would just forget about it and keep better track of future bikes. Revenge is not worth the hassle.

I don't know how the law works over there in Ireland, but the kid needs to get arrested. He already stolen property and destroyed property. An ass beating is far from the solution unless EK is underage as well.

Man I really want to beat his head in though but I ain't underage :sad: I wish I was 17 again or even 16 so I can go up and kick lumps. My friend managed to catch the kid and shaked him up a bit before letting him go...there was nothing else he could do...the police do nothing here :sad: we are powerless against junkies and criminals...we need justice

Calling the police and reporting the bike as stolen and by whom it was stolen isn't revenge, it's justice.  Who gives a shit if you can't get your original bike back?  Doing nothing just means he's gonna target your ass again because he knows nothing is going to happen to him.  At least by reporting him you're going to stop him from stealing other people's bikes.

Yeah I wasn't trying to respond to your post, more to the people who are advocating beating him up and so on. I don't always pay attention to who's in the reply to box. I don't consider going to the police to be "revenge" in a case like this necessarily either, whether or not the property is retrievable.
