Hey all, for the past two day and previous night, I was with a friend I've known since childhood. My friend is blessed with a family and is financially well off. This was not always the case with either of us. He takes care of me when he can, repaying kindness and sharing his bud etc. He is always mentioning giving me some of this or some of that ( not all things drug related lol.) Even if I refuse he would question why etc.
Now that's the back-story of this tale. Basically while i was there he purchased a 10,000 dollar vehicle- an older but still very nice BMW. He then was giving me a lift back to my place and I remembered that he mentioned giving me some lettuce and peppers from his garden, some weed, some books, and some xbox games. The thing is he mentioned all this. I mentioned before we went if i could get some lettuce and weed and he flipped out. Or was it my imagination? Maybe I misinterpreted a failed joke? He said, " what else do you need/want - to fuck my girlfriend? I basically was quiet and i believe he later regretted his statement. I didn't get any games, or books, or the cell phone he offered a week earlier, even though he got me this laptop.
From one perspective I might look like I'm striking it rich but I'm really not. He offers up stuff like this and this time when i asked he flipped out. this comment was the rudest thing I either heard and I'm just not sure where to take our 10 yr plus friendship from here. I honestly want to call him on his shit but if im over reacting i don't know. He is a liar ( basically cheated a cousin out of a pot growing venture that I was also going to be in). He doesn't know I know any of the conversations or anything or at least he hasn't said anything. He really pissed me off. I hate people who say shit and don't deliver. Why tell me you got these things for me then flip out on me and say a comment like he did?
Any members have any similar stories or know how to approach this? Should I dismiss it? Should I play it off like it didn't happen?
It was several days of fishing and hiking (1st day), smoking and watching the Big Lebowski (1st nite) and then eating popeyes chicken (he paid after offering) and going to the car dealership (2nd day). I just don't get the behavior. Don't offer if you cant deliver on your word. Am I wrong?
