:facepalm: They're not federally run. They take no contributions from the federal or local governments. They get meat from hunters for free and give it to poor people for free, and their nonprofit status makes their services tax-exempt.

I'm not sure exactly what makes their nonprofit status so desirable that they'd be willing to kowtow to this ridiculous fucking demand. Honest ignorance. Pris was talking about how they could technically do better without this status and I'm interested in hearing his explanation for why they might need it. :popcorn:

what i dont get is why wasnt it even used for dog food or some shit like that? cook the fuck out of it, mix it with veggies, bake, pelletize, im sure its alot more work than that but FUCK! sounds like some asshole didnt want to deal with it so just disposed off it to save their lazy ass some time. regulations fuck that, these people have jack shit and are homeless.

we have tons of abandoned buildings in my city that SHOULD be opened when the temps are frigid. plenty of people would show up to volunteer for staffing. yet the mayor does do shit because of fire code regulations and safety. FUCK THAT YO figure that shit out, these people are sleeping on the streets and youre in a bed with a furnace and letting them stay inside is unsafe?

I bet the other homeless people stoned the one who complained about the venison. I agree with you about using it for something else. Like a pig farm woulda disposed of that meat proper.

So what all-important specificity am I missing here that'd have you type such a response?  Are you arguing that "food" isn't being prohibited, only "non-inspected food" or "non-approved food" or only deer meat?


the health department stopped the distribution for the same reason they'd
shut down a restaurant serving the same wild game, it's not approved and
not inspected. no one knows the condition of the animals before they were
shot other than the deer in the herd, all livestock that goes in for
processing is live which allows inspectors and workers to get some gauge
on the health of the animal, obviously sick animals are culled and cannot
be processed because of the health risks now had this venison been farm
raised and processed in a licensed facility then it wouldnt  be an issue

I used to stop at a little country store that sold biscuits for $3, just a
plain biscuit, they'd allow you a free choice of meat and/or eggs you could
put on your biscuit and in the case they had venison tenderloin but it
wasnt for putting on your biscuit, it was given as a free treat for your
dog, if it happened to find it's way onto the biscuit after you walked out,
well that's all on you but their signs were clear that it was a dog treat

I agree, government is too deep into our lives, I could give two shits
about who marries whom, or what someone chooses to grow or consume, it's
not my business and I feel I've been denied the ability to make my own
choices without fear of prosecution but non of it changes the fact that
these laws are in place and you can rant all you want about the evils of
government but unless you're actively trying to do something to change the
laws then all you're doing is blowing smoke and unless that soup kitchen
finds a way of circumventing the law or the hunters manage to get USDA
inspection for field killed animals in that state, nothing will change

this shit is no different than the raw milk shit that was in the news a few
years ago, a store selling it for human consumption gets raided and instead
of fighting of change the laws people wanted to bitch and moan when all the
vendor had to do is say "not for human consumption/pet milk only" and add a
bit of colorant and they'd have been in the clear until laws are changed
