It just moved and split in two. Given some time for cards to settle, it will be up and running strong again... just not on this server.

It is now up to the chat rooms to advertise so they continue to get new users.

I have seen a bunch of new people log on these last two days just because the drama is free advertising.

I also got away with murder in chat.
The best thing I can say about chat was that one time Enlil got a pretty massive melt out of Sheekle after saying virtually nothing. That was pretty great, the rest was senseless drivel from shallow minds every time I was in there.

irc.socialirc.com #shroomery and #cultivation both gretchen and I are there, and the channels have around 60-80 people in them.  The amount of interaction is about the same as when it was irc.shroomery.org

I'm upset the chat is gone. I had alot of fun in there. If people got offended or grossed out they need to understand ITS THE INTERNET.

I was commenting on the use of the terms melting and raging in general on this forum and how they're often used to discredit someone the accuser disagrees with who is usually responding in a way that is proportional to how the accuser is acting. ShroomDoom discredited himself the first post he made in this thread, me suggesting he is "raging" has nothing to do with it. Which by the way, he was definitely raging.

You discredited yourself in this thread the moment you excused his flaming and bad behavior.

wow, really? that is the most childish thing you have said in this thread. obviously people saying they are glad chat is gone is going to rustle your jimmies (or ShroomDoom's, rather), but that is a personal problem that should be internalized and rationalized in a mature fashion; lashing out in return is like 3rd graders at recess poking each other in the eye because "they did it first." it doesn't matter who did what first, it only matters who is the adult and can walk away without having to get the last, spiteful word in edgewise. the blame game doesn't help anything, and neither does arguing semantics. as far as ShroomDoom's ban goes, he was not only warned verbally by myself at the start of this thread to stop flaming but was also officially warned by Alan and Ythan for the same reason as well as for abusing the ratings system, thus earning him a ban from Alan, and rightfully so. there is no way you can justify his actions, which is what Everlong was getting at: that the only people flaming are ex-chat mods, and he's right. kicking and screaming isn't going to do a damn thing for your cause.

the immature responses and actions from both sides is disgusting, but especially from those who used to be psuedo-staff. i would expect all of you to hold to a higher code of conduct; i can't even picture any forum moderator acting in such a way if they were in disagreement with an administrative decision. rather, they would make it known--politely, if vehemently--that they thought it was a bad move and leave it at that. they wouldn't go around having paroxysms all over the boards in a fit of rage.

When i started growing i needed people in the chat to help me sort through all the bullshit on the cult board. No doubt there is great info but sometimes getting to it or verifying its validity is difficult. I received tons of great advice from shroomerites on chat(including gretch). After i was experienced with myc, i was able to help others on the chat as well.

That was just one of my positive experiences on shroom chat
