i wanted the power abuse brought to light.

after it was brought to light, this is what happened.

It would be naiive to say this is solely your fault. You are however one of the main antagonizing factors as to why the chat drama spilled over into forums. No one should forget that.

there are always going to be users who feel that they have received unjust treatment. you think, that in 10+ years, we haven't tried? people are ALWAYS going to feel unjustly treated in an environment like chat; some of those people are going to react in a way that is detrimental to this site, as has happened several times in the past.


you're a very new member, so i guess i shouldn't expect you to fully understand the stress and hardships that offering a chat service has caused this site over the years.

I'd appreciate if you would stop talking down to me as if I lack some sort of understanding. I understand where you're coming from. What you don't seem to understand is that this is NOT something inherent to chat. It's all about the pissed off and unbalanced individual who feels wronged, which could very well happen in the forums and is likely to considering the way that some forum mods troll and flame.

Considering the number of sites on the internet that can host a chat client without major problems and costs due to doing so, I see no reason why the Shroomery shouldn't be able to.

Reporting it to administration doesn't do anything. Plenty of forum mods troll and flame, often wording it carefully to avoid problems. This isn't a place where I feel like getting into that discussion, nor do I understand why you would want me to do so in a thread about chat. The simple fact is that disagreement with how someone mods IS NOT inherent to chat, it's inherent to bad modship or a troll not liking that their trolling is being called out. Neither of those things are inherent to the place they occur but rather to the people involved.

Admins and mods are told to back each other up to uphold appearances. Reporting an instance of flaming or trolling by a mod usually results in nothing at all.

No, thus inherent to the users meaning that getting rid of those users would solve the problem. On the forums we can get rid of problematic users, why is chat any different?

problematic users are usually the ones who make puppets; we don't get rid of them, they just eventually give up and there are hordes of others to take their place.

for some of these users, the banning forms intense animosity. this animosity compels them to attack the site, even if the transgression they perceive occurred in chat. it's different because chat is real-time, which seems to attract trolls more than the forums do. most of our trolls reside in OTD and are usually content enough to troll each other.

You're just speculating about the behavior of unstable people and using it as justification. It's just as likely that someone unstable will be pissed off about their treatment on the forums.

i'm not speculating anything. THIS IS HOW IT HAS BEEN SINCE CHAT WAS CREATED FOR THIS SITE! it is a trend, and it is a regular occurrence. 10+ years of experience being extremely active in IRC and on the forums is where i get these "speculations" from.

There have been so far no examples given of power abuses in specifics with logs or otherwise. You have 0 proof and your false allegations speak volumes to your tendency for pathological lying.
