It is a shame to lose chat.

I can understand where The Staff is coming from, but I do wish they'd tried to fix it more first.

Chat was glorious back in the day. It supplemented the forums and allowed for very personal interaction. It was very helpful to new cultivators.

At the very least, I wish there was cultivation chat... the more social rooms were getting out of hand though, from my limited experience.

My opinions about one member doesn't disqualify me for being a good choice for chat op. I was told several times by the other ops and mods that I was a good chat Op. So Fuck off, enlil we all know this about users complaining and being bitches and not about a lack of moderation. You could blame the IRC ops for the DDOS attack but that would be ignoring the real issue the same as Blaming the chat Ops for the behavior of users who cannot and will not accept the disciplinary actions for rule breaking. Some people can't take a ban and think they are above the rules.

Because I think those people are faggots it makes me unfit for moderation? then so be it. Like I said to hell with all of you. Im done with shroomery.

i will say again, if chat had been implemented in the proper way, the way it should have been, this wouldn't even be an issue right now. instead, it was hastily launched without people willing to actively moderate it FROM OUR STAFF. due to the sensitive nature of the moderator forum, we can't appoint just anyone who wishes to moderate chat to be a moderator and have them deal with the issues that arise--it doesn't work like that.


And the drama, flaming and tolling in chat was also OUR drama, flaming and trolling. It was the same people who are on the forums.

I can't accept that things should be ruined just because a few people can't handle themselves. When there's a problem with my sink I don't just get rid of all sinks and plumbing, I figure out what the root of the problem is and I fix it.

Professionalism is the ability to separate one's personal feelings from one's responsibilities.  You lacked professionalism as a mod.

I don't dislike you in the least, Shroom, but I do believe you and several others were a poor choice.  It isn't a personal attack.

Chat is a great barometer for how the site operates.

If chat is broken, it can be fixed.

But if nobody is willing to fix it, it should go.

Like I said if I wanted to set up a random chat client I would have already. :shrug: I liked the fact that shroomery chat was an extension of the board, free to be used by ANY shroomery member who wanted to use it. I like a lot of the users on this forum and I don't want to create something that isn't accessible to anyone on here who wants to use it nor do I claim that I want to be entirely in charge of the chat functionality.

I just don't understand why this isn't up for discussion when plenty of great ideas on how to improve the chatterbox have been suggested in this thread and in many other threads on the topic.

Chat Op is not a profession therefore I don't feel your judgement on whether or not I was professional is relevant. You are guilty of the same kind of favoritism which you admonish others. The same kind of flaming the same kind of trolling. I don't believe for one second that because I have an emotional opinion on some of the user's behavior that It makes me an unfit chat op. I'm sure the forum mods have emotional opinions about the faggotry that goes on there and may even express those opinions doesn't make them less fit to mod.

So now that i have ripped that contention to shreds explain again against the opinions of the other Ops why I was a poor choice for OP?
