Spiritual symbols: Any favorits?

Hi guys,

So, I'm still fairly new to the Shroomery, but by now I've managed to put a good amount of hours into digging deep in the forum archeives. And what a world of fucking wonders this place is! I'm really digging the vibe, so yeah, hats off to you, I guess!

ANYWAY!

I've become interested in the notion of spirituality as an active part of my psychedelic experiences. I was wondering what favorite spiritual/religious symbol(s) you guys might have? Doesn't matter if you're into spirituality of a more divine nature or simply dig the whole "holistic health" part of it.

So, do you have any special symbols in your life? And what meanings and qualities do you credit these symbols with? Personally, I'm really digging the Ankh these days. What about you? :smile:

Welcome! This cadacues has always been one of my favorite. It showed up in dreams so much I had to research more about it.

very beautiful flower and lots of associations in indian religions

in buddhism, the main symbolism of it is that since the beautiful flower grows out of muddy swamps, it symbolizes the ascent of enlightenment out of the swamp of samsara. different colours of flowers also represent different spiritual qualities

Nice dustinthewind13!  Here's mine(atop holy table):


I'm very fond of the unicursal hexagram with 5 pedal rosy center, the pentagram, the manifold forms of the chaosphere, and the eye within the palm of the hand.  These all hold value to me not only metaphorically, but experientially as well.  For instance, there have been times in the kurrents where i have employed the unicursal hexagram as protection against influences perceived as malignant.  Symbols often prevail where words have fallen completely effete.

So I've been making those plex shaped pendants out of wood, burning in random symbols, to turn a buck or two at the upcoming festivals, drawing them without a plan or concept... you know, letting the soul express itself and one of them turned out like this:


It was just one of the many and it didn't really stand out, but about a month later it ended up in my hand and I gave it a thought.
straight lines for the four directions - north, south, west, east
curly lines for the four elements that create the reality - classic wind, fire, water, earth in clockwise direction
straight lines: space; curly lines: time
All in all it seems even more - duality balance like yin/yang, questionmark shapes opposed to flat truth; both together forming a sort of a sun symbol, swastika, hinting a spiral

But there's something missing.. the 5th element, ether, the center, soul, where it all comes together, so I thought i would add...

(excuse the lazy mouse drawing)

I think it's a pretty cool symbol, i'll make a few for those special people i'll meet.

You know.. now when looking at it.. maybe it's better without the eye... god wants to remain undefined after all. Definition would take away the infiniteness .. if that's even a word. No shape or form, remember? While the eye is pretty tops for awareness.
Another thing - clockwise swirls symbolize creation, while the opposite direction would symbolize destruction. It's only human to lean toward just one of them.. and equally human to look for flaws.
