Infinite possibilities from this moment
    #16757517 -

Let me clarify: This is not another one of those "reality is splitting from this moment in all directions" posts. It's an attempt at understanding the psychology behind it, and the thought that there are many you's in a multiverse of possibilities, and you have lived many lives with the body you hold. Why do some of us think that when we trip? The thought even made it's way into Timeline, talking about infinite parallel possibilities and worlds created from our choices in life.

I know I feel that while tripping, but with a sober mind it doesn't seem very likely. I do not seek to debate the physics behind it, for all I know it may be true, but why would that thought spontaneously enter your head while you trip?

I think it stems from repeated memories and confusion of the predictive capabilities of the mind.

While we sleep, we engrain many events in our life. This process does not occur once, it occurs many times. Essentially, we relive the experiences both with waking memories and unconscious recording of memories. The process occurs many times, and creates many mirrors of the past. These memories decay over time and with each recoding. Cross-over between this coding portion of memories with other segments of the mind, conscious and un-related unconscious, may make the mind think there are many pasts leading up to this moment.

Then there are the predictive capabilities of the mind. The mind forms many possible outcomes of events, and can see itself following different courses of actions. Although it only takes one course, sometimes the mind can't tell the difference between a thought and reality - especially while tripping. This may make the mind think there are many possible futures echoing out of this moment.

I think it comes down mostly to increased awareness to parts of these mental processes, and an urge to "bridge the gap" between thoughts while tripping.

Well, that's my crack at it. Anyone else want to give it a go?

I like what you are trying to do here.

Can you be more careful about what is mental contents.

some contents in your description are referred to as mind or process while they are just mental objects (made of ether, or data-energy pattern - essence of voidness etc.).

mind is the fabric in which consciousness is happening:
- the basis of associative process (object recall), and
- memory formation (linkage formation) using body as source signal

body is the source of signals (senses) and I need to keep cerebellum here (sense of timing) since it is a signal source for timing intervals which is used very extensively.
and I need to add back mind here, as part of body since memory is a signal source.

body is also the expression back into the world, and in that way it is in a class of mental objects with real world relevance and impact.

if you can map this simpler landscape you will be run into fewer contradictions and will have better predictions. ergo it is a better model.

as for mind states:
(talking about the fabric of consciousness - i.e. reduced to associative and memory formative effects)
the state of the fabric of mind can be characterized by the length of time in which any transient mental object fades:
long fades are very stoned or dreaming like: mental objects overlap and can join chimerically.
short fades allow more distinct mental objects.

long fades accommodate the overlapping of entire spatial geometries, they will coexist in mind - here is your multiverse. enjoy!

long fades will also accommodate overlapping of reaction matrixes or personality objects - here are your visitors, and your posessions.

easy no?

[addition edited afterwards]
also here are some critical timing notes:

normal fadeout of simple mental object from consciousness ---- 1/15th of a second

normal duration of mental object complex (usually called ego) - 3 seconds

longest fadeout from mental state enhancement:
simple mental object - 3- 5 seconds
(to the duration of a self complex (ideas with personality aspect) and enabling layers of up to 70 layers - which looks like forever when arranged as a grid)
mental complex can layer up into multiple simultaneous concurrent independent motivated self complexes.
