The only thing that we should 'delcare a war on' is complete fucking idiots who try and dictate other peoples lives, a far bigger plague on humanity than drug addiction.

If only people like you were put down at birth, or at least didn't think they were so important and clever that they can attack a whole segment of society to comfort their own irrational fears. I will say this again, and would say it a hundred times over: Stupidity is the bane of human civilization, not drug addiction. People like you are the problem, not the solution.

Please just go neck yourself next time you think you know whats best for other people, you don't. You want to know why? Because you are an illiterate self important fuckwit.

P.s you should look into a career as a politician, I heard they are interested in people of your calibre and I think your intelligence and mentality would be a great fit for the job.

You don't see major deficits in the frontal lobe and changes to the mesolimbic pathway after years of irresponsibility or laziness like you do with addicts, though.  There are neurochemical reasons why it becomes incredibly difficult for the addict to stop taking his or her drug of choice: addiction is a disorder of the brain just as any other neurological or psychiatric illness is, and the current mainstream scientific and medical experts agree.

many current ex-addicts agree as well, including myself.

TheCake:  Truthfully though, the more someone rapes the receptors in their
brains, by repeatedly taking drugs, the more your behavior changes.

yes it is possible to resist these changes at first, but it begins to form in your life
as a compulsion where you don't even think about doing it, or perhaps it's so
insidious, that you don't even believe you are doing the behavior.

Life is fucked up, and the only good cure for addiction is Love, with a capital L.

You need the love of your family or your significant other, and most of all you need
Self Love, otherwise you have no deep seated reason to battle these compulsions,
and yes it is a battle.

just my 2 cents.

i also feel that if you have to use anyone, to save anyone (like, maliciously use)
that you are saving no one.  Lives are not pieces on a chess board to combat what
you deem is evil.  Evil is a lie.

You clearly don't understand the definition of a disease if you think addiction is a metaphor for disease.

Yeah bro!  Cause like, using the dictionary to define a term is so uncool.  I use words how I wanna use 'em, and nobody gonna tell me otherwise.  :jailbait:

So let's just use the dictionary to decide how we look at doing drugs habitually?

It's a disease! It's a disease!

That's just noise without your dictionary.

And it is... just noise.

Or in this case, crooked lines.

No. Let's use the correct scientific definition of what a disease is and see if addiction fits that model.

You just can't stand the fact that addiction is not a blood born or airborne pathogen and it's self inflicted, so your apathy for drug addicts makes you try to deny the existence.

For example. An injury, syndrome, or disability is a disease. I'm sorry that science has decided what the actual definition while you want to create your own based on misconceptions about addiction being self inflicted solely based on someones decision to put something in their body, but that's reality. You can chose to live in denial and say it's not true or you can join the rest of the world and realize you lost an argument on the internet and no one is going to remember or care.

"Let's use the correct scientific definition of what a disease is and see if addiction fits that model. "

And who is going to give you this? The Correct Scientific Definition Fairy?

"so your apathy for drug addicts makes you try to deny the existence. "

Apathy for drug addicts? You know so much about me don't you?

Want apathy? Apathy is giving someone an explanation to hold on to. Apathy is not giving a flying fuck about how what you tell someone will affect the course of their life. Apathy is accepting lies. Apathy is not thinking things through.

If you want to have apathy, call addiction a disease. And believe it. Believe it with all your heart and soul.

The fact that addiction is a disease does not imply apathy with regards to overcoming it.  Nice ninja edit, BTW.

The "fact" that addiction is a disease... ok yeah.

Has nothing to do with name-calling, does it? It has not one bit of labeling? It is fact. Right? It is not merely a name you've given to something which happens?

The correct definition is what science uses. Or do you not believe in science? Do you know better than the medical community? You must have a lot of experience treating addiction.

Are you actually going to provide a counterargument for your position or just write your posts in a larger font in an attempt to make them have more weight?  Like withoutawire and myself have previously stated, addiction adheres to the dictionary definition of what a disease is.  Pretty simple concept really.
