Classical music=better for thinking?

Anyone else concur?

I find it gives me thoughts that stay on track.
Which is why i preferably listen to Beethoven.

Especially when I'm high and meditating, I can feel the build up from his music and at the same time thoughts start coming out as fast as his own hand.

It's not better for thinking in general (or at least not anymore so than all music), it's better for thinking with your left brain, your analytic mind. Turn it on if you're doing some math homework, some art involving complex patterns. Alternatively, turn on some rock or rap music if you're writing a fictional story. But some classical if you're writing an essay on biology.

Yeah, but so does any music with complex patterns, not necessarily limited to classical music. All this electronic music coming out in the last couple years has the same effect.

Ya but that music just annoys me to death.

I prefer an orchestra for my mind to wander about.

No understanding/appreciation for the texture of sounds.

People go wild for the bass sounds because they're so complex and coherently textured compared to... everything else.

It's about the complexity of the music when it comes to this kind of stuff. It's like the difference between listening to Jimi Hendrix and listening to Blink 182. Hendrix is going to make your mind more active in those areas.

I used to read alot and usually listened to classical while doing so (favorite is Eine Kleine Nachtmusik), dont read so much lately though.

Personally I would have an easier chance studying listening to Blink-182, cause if Hendrix is there's nothing I'm doing but focusing on that sweet, sweet guitar.

Some of it used odd time signatures but apart from that it isn't very complex.

Classical has odd time signatures, interesting melodies, harmonies, and dynamics.

Dubstep is flat sounding with odd beats and usually with some annoying sounds attempting a melodic line.

Yeah, but that's why Hendrix is better for thinking. He'd be more of a brain workout.


And a lot of dubstep is no good, some of it's really good. I prefer electro over dubstep myself.

I read that it was all Bullshit a few months back.

There were studies but the results were not in favor of the classical music methos.

My guess, classic Placebo Effect. But if it makes you feel smarter just do it anyway.

Dubstep bass sounds these days cover a pretty wide spectrum on a frequency graph.

Classical music is great for concentration. It has a sense of effortless complexity that is contagious.

I don't usually listen to classical music when I'm studying though, I listen to glitchcore-type stuff and Aphex Twin. Goes great with the dex. :billymaythumbup:
