Banning notifications?

I posted about this before but I got an indirect answer and it just sunk.


I was wondering if it would be possible to have users notified when someone is banned, and if it's perma or temporary and such. It doesn't have to be through PMs like with mods and admins, but if there was a list, like a "hall of shame" or something.

Just a thought. It just seems like whenever someone gets banned, another user starts a thread announcing it to everyone and everything turns into a big ugly mess. Such a useless pattern of unnecessary drama.

It would take away the point of having a thread started like

"such and such" was banned.

Since those are the threads which usually lead to the entire banning/power trip debates we always see too much of.

Preventing drama isn't the primary point. It's just letting users know when someone's gone.

If users know ahead of time, they can whine and bitch on their own instead of finding out of someone's banning in a thread and replying with such bitterness.

This may be inevitable, but either way I feel it would be a good idea instead of just taking away certain users and leaving people to find out on their own.

Those threads will happen anyway with or without a 'list'.

The 'list' will become a focus for certain users who like to start shit or bitch..

I think you should be banned for this thread, and be the first to make the list.

I second this idea. There's a reason for every ban, and to admit it, I don't think most of the people that are banned deserve to have others know they were banned. Even if its a mod/admin abusing their privileges, the ban will be taken off soon, and one shouldn't make such a big deal over it. After all, people that are banned ARE banned for a reason.

*sigh* I guess.

I dunno, I was just integrating the idea from some CS servers I saw.

They have this "hall of shame" listing people banned for cheating 'n shiyit.

But I mean, I guess users bitchin about it is inevitable.

It just seemed to help to open up communications a little. But yeah, with like Mr_M says, it maye be too impractical.

We get news coverage of suicides from people jumping off bridges. Is your point that it will give them what most likely whatgot them banned in the first place?that being looking for attention.
