Idea For Mushroom Preservation

Many People Say That The Issue With Mushroom Preservation Is the Oxidation of the Mushrooms Themselves. I have never tried this because I have never attempted to preserve my shrooms before, but logically it should work. My I idea is that after you dry the mushrooms, place them in a plastic zip-lock back and remove all of the oxygen from the bag leaving it nearly airtight, this is, of course after placing the mushrooms in the bag itself. After doing this place the bags with the mushrooms in it on the bottom of a glass jar. Fill the glass jar up with water and then close the jar up. Since air is less dense than water it will not be able to reach the mushrooms and since the bag is waterproof the water will not be able to touch the mushrooms. If neither air or water can get to the mushrooms, then they should never be able to oxidize and therefore should be able to be preserved forever with no loss in potency. Again, I have never tried this, but if chemistry follows its laws, then this should work. If anyone is willing to try this let me know how well it works out. Or just give me some feedback on this idea. You may also IM me on my account SmokinWeed0690.

You have the right idea. Zip lock baggies with air removed inside glass jars is how I like to store, for the same reason. Even without a zip lock bag, as long as they are inside a glass jar with a tight lid you'll be fine. Avoid plastic as your final container, of course.
There is so little data out there about degradation over time of the chemicals themselves. I believe stored shrooms will remain potent for decades. There are more reports to confirm that 5-10 year old shrooms are kicking peoples asses, whereas I have yet to see a reliable report about someones shrooms going bunk on them.
Old shrooms rule, and very few people realize this (yet)
Read this guys report about 4 year old shroom powder, I love this:

I think this would be a little excessive, I store my mush in a bag in a bigger bag with a desiccant, no problems with oxidation.

Or, you could get a vacuum sealer at sears for $30 and a roll of bags. RR

The bag you described would float.
