I think I have a hangnail.

but in all seriousness, make sure you wash the area well.  disinfect.  if it's totally swollen like crazy, there may be a bunch of pus in there.  i used to get hangnails on the outside edge of my big toe and what i could do to drain the pus was stick the tip of a knife in that crack between the outside of my nail and the flesh, then pry it apart some whilst putting pressure on the inflammation.  that would make the pus ooze out. 

then i'd disinfect like crazy and give my foot a solid soaking in a hot epsom salt bath.

then after the bath, take cotton and pry the nail up and stuff it with cotton so it doesn't hurt, after a few days, it'll have grown out.

I used to get ingrown nails all the time and had 7 removed down to the cuticle and the root burned out. :puke:

Bite or clip off.  Don't pull, it's only going rip the entire side of your finger off.

A hangnail is not an ingrown nail.

For hang nails, I usually just cut them off with a small blade.

In grown nails, I cut back the nail if it's not bad. If it's bad, I would go to the doctor (I've never let it get bad).

I dont see the "hangnail" tho. If I pull the skin away from the side of the nail
(Which is on my middle finger) I can see what looks like a little cut. But my finger
is swollen and hurts where the "cut" is. Not sure if this is a hangnail or not.

The flap of skin is the hang nail.
Throw some peroxide on the cut and then bandage it.

*EDIT: Cut off the loose the skin before bandaging.

Yeah a hangnail is that piece of skin next to the nail that sometimes peels away.  The more you pull, the deeper it peels and more pain it causes.  I have one on my right thumb that I bit off earlier and it's sore and swelling because I just pet my cat whom I'm allergic to.

OOOOOOO that's a hang nail?  I have them probably 24/7 from peeling at my cuticles, if RP is making a post about what's on his hand I doubt it's this "hang nail" BS.

Right. Yeah I dont know what I have. Just a random infection. Which worry's me
worse. I guess all I can do is keep it clean and if it gets worse hit up the clinic :sad:
