I had an infected nail on my thumb

I bite my nails, bad habit I know but its fun.
Anyway I have this bad habit of chewing them until there is like nothing left, way below the nail line or whatever, I did this to my thumbnail the other day and ripped a huge chunk off the side, it started bleeding. Shit Happens, it's happened before.

Anyway this time it got infected, I woke up 3 days ago my thumb was completely red and swollen, it was literally like 3 times the size of my other thumb. I thought it was pretty cool, even though it hurt a little bit and was sore.

People kept telling me to go to the doctor, I was like fuck you pussies. What the hell.. do people go to the doctor over every little thing.. you get a cold and you vaginas go to the doctor? This one guy was like OMG MAN IF YOU DONT GO TO THE DOCTOR IT COULD GET UBER INFECTED AND YOUR THUMB MAY FALL OFF!!@#.
Yeah, maybe if I had a pussy immune system because I go to the doctor for every minor infection or cut. But I don't, my immune system WORKS, because I give it exercise.

Anyway, I let it heal itself naturally, via puss and yellow stuff. Today I woke up and it was a different color, not as swollen, and not red.. but instead.. a big bubble of white dead skin with stuff underneath.

This means fun happy time.
I grabbed an exacto blade and slit a nice little hole in the skin and SQUEEEEZED all the puss out. Good times.

I get the same thing...and when I say I haven't they look at me like I'm crazy...
I don't get why I would go to the doctor over something not at all life threatening?

I've rarely been to the doctor, only time I really had to was when I fell off my bike
and couldn't extend my arm..and in the end they didn't really do much and it healed with time.

I went to the doctor once when I was 7, I got hit by a car while riding my bike. But it's not like I had a choice, they strapped me down and took me by helicopter. I guess that's a decent excuse to go to the hospital. But a swollen thumb? Give me a fucking break .

Still,you should post pics if the bubble resurfaces. Can you imagine going to the doctor for that? You'd have to be like "Here pop this for me, will ya?" Anyways, glad you could lance it yourself. My buddy had that same kind of infection in his big toe. Went to the doctor for it and they couldn't do shit about it anyway.

It's not going to resurface, the bubble and redness is gone, all that's left is some dead skin :sad:

What's worse that biting a nail too far down is cutting part of a toe callus off then peeling it the rest of the way, and having it follow the path of your toe-print and going deeper and deeper as you pull.  :eek:
