UNBELIEVABLE hitch-hiking experience. * 1

so i left berlin today to come to utrecht.  i took a cheap train to a town right outside of berlin then walked like 20 minutes to a gas station off the highway.  i spent about 2 hours in that gas station with no luck at all.  shit wasn't working out.

but, after a while, i finally found a ride to a town 200km down the road.  awesome.  great.  shit is looking up.  after setting down my pack next to this car, another car pulls up into the gas pump next to us and he has netherlands plates.  then i look into the open window and it's a somewhat shaggy haired youngish guy.  perfect demographic!

so i ask him, "are you going to holland?"

"yeah," he replies.

"are you going to utrecht?"

he pauses and starts laughing, "yeah.  hop in."

so i was set to get to my destination over 700km away in a single ride.  while riding, he opts to roll up a total of 4 spliffs that we smoke together.  he insists on buying me some water and a bit of food.  we were getting along great - talking about music festivals and drug experiences and shit.  i was telling him about me plans to party at a rave this weekend in antwerp.  he was cool as fuck.

so at the end, since we were getting along so well, he turned to me with something in his hand and said "so i was supposed to leave this with my girlfriend, but i forgot.  so you can have it," and he hands me a little plastic pouch.

"it's mdma.  1 gram.  have fun."

i'm not sure i fully understand your meaning.

but i do know that the ending was beyond satisfactory for myself.  i still can't get over it.  a gram of molly!  for free!  it's awesome when despite years of living in this world, its people still surprise you with showings of generosity.

luckily, the high spirits have been maintained in the place i'm currently crashing.  it's like student housing in a university.  i'm sleeping on a mattress on the floor of this dude's dorm.  the guys here are all cool and shit's still going well.

i'm quite pleased at how my final weeks in europe are looking to be.  good signs.  good plans.  i'm finishing this epic journey fucking proper and i'm grateful beyond belief for what i've been able to do and the prospects of finishing strong.

life, man... fucking life.  i love it.

that is pretty sweet....i wish i could hook someone up like that sometime.

i hooked a buddy up with some morphine for free a few weeks ago when he was dopesick, and then when he had some and i needed it he wouldnt help me out at all....i could even pay half and then the other half later and it was still a no way man i need the money...

Ah, sounds like you made it to the Uithof. Utrecht is a nice enough town. Good to hear you had a nice encounter; reminds me a lot of the hitchhiking stories I hear of my hippie friends :thumbup:
