In one sense everything is magic; in another nothing is.  This seems to rather dilute the word.

Enlightenment is going, "Oh I'm God, look at that. Is that all it is? Just this and Now? It's already over? Okay. I accept."

Life doesn't blow your mind. Life is a mind, that was always blown.

it just shows that thinking in labels is a shortcut to actual thought. when you use the term magical thinking you reduce it to small associations in your mind tied up to theories from shrinks who never experienced anything remotely far out from their constricted academic boxes and who wouldn't have recognized anything unusual if it hit them on the head because two days later they would have been reestablished in their patterned preconceptions by default.

You're thinking in stereotypes. :nono::lol:

Still, he has a point.  I mean, can you really just accept the academic perspective on psychology hook line and sinker?  A distinction between a student of psychology and a spiritual seeker might be that the seekers have the impulse to find out for themselves and not be satisfied with what they are told.

I'm much more likely to when (as it has) it jibes with my own personal experience.:satansmoking:

lol, I'm not too sure how anyone can see a difference between what Buddhism says and what academic psychology says. There are some things that Buddhism speaks about that psychology does not, but this does not mean there is a difference. The things they both speak about are in agreement. The places that psychology doesn't speak about are the places that it cannot study.
