As I'm holding a strawberry by the green leaves on it's top, poised to take a bit out of it, the sunlight illuminates its full color and it so vibrantly red, I can smell the aroma of it's emodied boquet, and I notice the individual tiny seeds on it's exterior.

In my mind, I begin to wonder what's going on inside this tiny fruit on a microscopic level. Then I begin to wonder how I am affected by taking something that's seemingly alive and putting it into my body.

If we truly are what we eat, then why would anyone want to eat anything that has been killed, dismembered, sanitized, pastuerized, steam, broiled, baked, fried or euthanized?

i had a thought similar to this about how it's almost sadistic to pick fruit from the tree and let it "ripen" aka die right in front of us because it tastes better that way. That got me thinking that it was an argument for those who preach about being a vegetarian. Of course we can change the way we handle these situations, but is the answer really cutting out fresh meats all together? to eat the flesh of a creature that was once alive is a pretty profound act if you actually think about it, it kinda makes you look up and see where the sky ends and space begins so to speak.

Because it tastes fucking awesome
and I'm not the one who's being killed, dismembered, sanitized, pasteurized, steamed, broiled, baked, fried or euthanized
so I don't care what happened to my food or how it 'felt' before I put it in my mouth

My question wasn't really about morals.

It was more along the lines of who we are being formed by what we eat.

I just think I'd rather be composed of something other than Cow's ass or Chicken tits.

A good way to judge a food is how you feel after you eat it. If I eat a bunch of fresh veggies, I feel energized in an hour or so. If I eat a bunch of white bread and dead animal I feel like taking nap.

I have this experience too. I can definitely tell whether a food is just sustaining me or actually nourishing my body, mind, and spirit. It's quite profound really the difference between the two.

I suppose in the case of mj, you really do have to at least heat it up a bit to get any buzz from it.
