They all look weilii to me weiliiinmyyard. Mushrooms can look completely different from fruit to fruit, but that doesnt mean they are a different species. Id say 1/5th of the finds not being weilii is not accurate to me, Id say most of the finds are weilii. There are a couple of other psilocybes that grow around the same habitat as the weilii like atlantis.

The Psathyrella (renamed to Lacrymaria Velutina recently iirc) are out and about friends.  This indicator genus has always been present during my weilii finds from last fall.  The spring fruiting is here and the weilii are up somewhere I'm most certain.  Good luck all.

Well

Looks like your right. I just stumbled upon the most recent entry for Psilocybe Weilii on mushroomobserver.org. It's from the 8th of this month in Bartow County.

I've been out searching the last couple of weeks, I haven't found any Weilii but I have found some places that fit the habitat descriptions.

Yesterday i decided to go out again and find someplace new. I came across this huge loblolly pine at the edge of a clearing:

Its top had fallen off, but a large portion of it was still standing. Looked like it had been dead for quite a while, but not long enough to have any serious decomposition. There was plenty of debris around its base:

The next shot is a picture of the tree's debris where it meet the grass of the clearing:

There were other fallen victims of pine beetles that surrounded this pine, along with standing live pines.

Close by and deeper in the woods I came across a MASSIVE loblolly that had fallen years ago, it had been sitting longer than the previous pine(the one at the clearings edge). It was decomposing nicely but not enough to crumble underneath the pressure of my feet
(the water bottle i was carrying is photographed also to give you an idea of the size this tree was)

The next picture is another shot of the same massive pine. It had fallen bark around its base. I decided to kick some of it away to expose the soil underneath(close to the bottom of the picture)

This is what the forest floor looked like before I moved the debris aside:

And what it looked like after:

The woods I was in was made up of mainly deciduous trees but with a good mix of pines. Some areas of the ground were covered mainly in fallen leaves (see below) but with plently of fallen pine limbs from the standing dead pines above:

Other ground areas were covered in mostly pine straw:

Here is another shot of a fallen pine, this particular one had almost decomposed completely(Close to the top of the picture is the fallen pine in the last stages of decomposition):

Although I didn't find anything i don't think the trek was completely unfruitful, I've got some good places( that seem to fit some descriptions of P. Weilii's habitat) to check back on in the coming days. The scenery wasn't too bad either, this particular woods had some seriously old trees by the nearby creek bed. The picture of this massive oak just doesn't give it justice:

(IMPORTANT TO NOTE: I'm new, this year will be my first at hunting Psilocybe Weilii. These pictures are of where I'm looking for Psilocybe Weilii. I could be looking in a completely wrong area.)

Thanks for posting the pictures matt. I recently got turned onto shroom hunting and went looking after seeing this thread and doing some research. I have been out searching at a couple spots and looking in places fitting Northgahunt's description. Didn't find anything. Good news is that it looks like we have some rain moving in this weekend.

Also, after the rain I am looking through a cow pasture near the property I am searching for weilii on. As I have researched I guess I am hopefully going to come across some p.Cubensis?  I am most likely not going to be able to search at night / early morning, is this the best time to go? Obviously I am quite new to this as well as the forum so please forgive me if these questions are dumb. I plan on taking pictures / posting whatever I find. The majority of where I looked for weilii today was in the woods near water sources, but hardly any clearing with grass around. Didnt find squat though, am I just not looking hard enough? Is it typical for the shrooms to be under a pretty good bit of brush? Any help would be appreciated.

So, went hunting today to see if anything had popped up, and I mean anything. Just wanted to see if ANY fungi what so ever was growing. - Didn't happen to see any weilii, but I did run across a small patch of Pan. subbs. They were extremely small.. Looked like they just popped up this morning (so of course we left them).

Anyways, just a lil update. I'd go check for some pan subbs after this next rain. I looked at the earliest I found the weilii last year and it was may 23rd.. If these weather patterns keep up i'm sure we'll be seeing a few finds soon!

First suggestion: Always wait to look for weilii after a good decent rainfall.

2: Look in newer neighborhoods (not too new) maybe 5-10 year old neighborhoods. Look in ferterlized lawns bermuda or fescue grass
3: Look in buisness parks where the grass is lush and thick. You wont find weilii in EVERY buisness park so just keep looking!
4:Weilii love pinetrees and sweet gum trees. I often find them growing underneath the pinestraw right below pinetrees!
5: If you are looking for woodland weilii try looking in woods that have been disturbed alot, IE: walking trails, etc. Look underneath abnormal pinestraw clumps, off to the edges of trails, under dead logs, etc. etc. (weilii love loblolly pine, sweet gum trees.)

It's a semi-harder mushroom to find at first but when you find your fist one you'll have great success!

this is my basic guide for finding weilii .. great for beginners.

Many people do the new neighborhood searches, and a few like the deep woodland weilii, which you can find in large numbers if you can find em.  I myself find the most weilii in red soil areas on the edge of pine/deciduous mix forests.  You can find places like these all over the weilii range, without the bother of searching neighborhoods or the hell of finding deep woods weilii.

My 2 cents...found plenty last year...

I can't see what those are because the pics are too blurry, but Lacrymaria velutina is the most common weilii lookalike and that is probably what you have.
