Have you done all this? Are you speaking from experience?

for some people "find and bring out your true self" can be a horrible advice though. cause they might be very self-pitying or introverted and think "ye, that's just how i am". but no, that's totally not how your true self is. i'm not telling you to find confidence for what you think you are. i'm telling you to find your true self. sounds very buddhist already, right?

Alot of people sound buddhist and use all the quotes and tell other people to follow them without showing any real understanding though.

yes, but can you relate to my example of talking to your boss, or any other authority? you start to talk from a different position, very often with a feeling of loss of integrity. also, are you 100% free to speak to any human being? especially thinking of beautiful women here. answer these questions for yourself and you have more understanding than i could ever give you

So you are done with suffering? You are awake/enlightened!

I couldn't tell, thanks for letting me know.

Then your beliefs may not apply in all situations or to the extent you believe in them.

so striving for happiness is attaching to happiness, and since it is temporary this means suffering.

For example one can conceivably strive for happiness without attaching to it. Knowing everything is temporary one seeks happiness for the moment and does not hold on tightly. When it's over one knows it will likely come by again.

My understanding is that happiness is internal, but that at the same moment you come to this realization it is external as well. As in you end fearing for your life, stop identifying with an isolated self, and accept that nothing lasts. At this moment you become truly free to live your life without being threatened in some way or feeling that you are forced in some kind of duty.

Which confuses me a lot with different schools of buddhist/yogic philosophy. Maybe I interpret the things I've read according to my belief, but it seems like pretty much all of it follows this same concept. Then it goes on to ask the practitioner to do all kinds of unnecessary controlling, aestheticism, and striving. ?? Doesn't make sense. Oh well.
