i would think (and i may be wrong here) that the only ways to decrease entropy would be to make time go backwards or make the universe stop expanding, and start collapsing upon itself

hmm is a black hole not the universe collapsing on itself? it seems like that would make sense, almost like if on the other side of a black hole was a star, and the stars we are black holes from the other direction, almost like the black hole was ordering things through a window, and on the other side of that window would be a star that is giving off all the energy that is being sucked through the other side,

the entropy always goes forward because it never ballences out. there is always extra disorder created

Too much order and we die though.  Life (and music) dance on that fine balance between too much order and too much chaos.

why do we die if there is "too much order" ?

If we become too orderly and predictable it would be very easy for an intelligent predator to pick us off.

Hmm, this is actually a pretty deep question on the nature of order.  If we define something as being more chaotic when it has less predictability and therefore more information necessary to describe it, then being too ordered would mean a very small informational content and you'd be tantamount to a block of carbon atoms about the same volume.

Bruce Lee illustrates the concept perfectly:

see his crazy wild instinct is harmonized with his scientific like control:

Quote:
Here is the natural instinct (raises fist) and here is control (raises other fist), you are to combine the two in harmony (brings fists together), yeah? If you have one to the extreme you will be very unscientific, if you have another to the extreme you become all of a sudden a mechanical man.

That has nothing to do with entropy or the second law of thermodynamics.

"A warrior is a hunter. He calculates everything. That's control. Once his calculations are over, he acts. He lets go. That's abandon. A warrior is not a leaf at the mercy of the wind. No one can push him; no one can make him do things against himself or against his better judgment. A warrior is tuned to survive, and he survives in the best of all possible fashions." ― Carlos Castaneda

A black hole is a solid object too dense for light to escape it...it is not a wormhole or some nonsense like that.
