Legalizing weed and shrooms

When do you think it'll happen in the US and Canada? I read a few days ago that Canada might legalize. That would be an awesome first start. America having it's neighbor with legal weed would force America to discuss the issue and when they see how nice and easy it goes in Canada without wild looting and terrorism as a result the Feds just might follow suit.
Maybe I'm in dreamland aout this but I really want weed legalized.

Canada won't legalize, but decriminalization is starting to look like a sure thing. The details are still being worked out.
The trick is really just changing public opinion. Believe it or not, there are still tons of people who still think weed is so evil that even having a joint in your youth is grounds for impeachment. Ridiculous, of course, but still a very popular viewpoint.

It'll be years before it happens in the US.
Sadly (and wrongly) most want it to remain illegal. I do think as time goes by attitudes will soften and things will change. Just don't hold your breath while you wait.

All the wishful thinking in the world isn't going to help in the slightest. If you disagree with something, get involved and change it. www.MPP.org www.norml.org www.marijuana.com If the government is the only voice speaking, it makes it very hard for people to have a choice in who to believe.

If canada legalizes/decriminalizes I think it could happen a lot quicker. Immediatly the effects would be evident in America. People would go to Canada for the sole purpose of bringing back the legal weed from there. The way it effects the social attitudes in America will be affected by the results of ending prohibition in Canada.

Well you are of course right in that it will happen quicker if Canada does it. I still think it will be years before the US does. Just not as many.

It will never happen. Theres a large body of people who would love to see it, but unfortunately, most of them dont vote. And no politician is going to push legislature that wont get them votes.
Thats not to mention to opposition.. Nevada barely got a decrimilization bill on the ballot, and it got shot down. Seems very unlikely we'll see legalization in our lifetime.. maybe decriminilization, but not full legalization.
Also legalization would entail regulation, and hemp would be a major competitor in alot of big markets.. it just wont happen.

With Bush in the white house there is more chance of the sky falling in than any drug being decriminalised. Forget about it.

Even if there was a president 100% pro legalization it wouldn't happen without congress passing new legislation. That's the way it works here.

And with the republicans in charge of congress it sounds like you're completely screwed. Tough break.

Same with the democrats, when we have a democrats in the White house and democratics controlling congress nothing gets changed.
