Legal Weed
    #519087 - 01/13/02 04:53 AM (14 years, 10 months ago)

/Here in Ontario, weed has been okayed for medicinal use. Allthough a lot of people don't know it, you can go to this place in Toronto (Toronto Compassion Centre) and get forms for your doctor to fill out and get legal weed. There's a huge list of diseases that qualify you including epilepsy (my friend has epilepsy and got legal weed) and arthritis (my friends dad has arthritis and he got legal weed). And of course there's HIV, Cancer, and all the other well known disease on the list. Also, if your doctor says weed will be benificial to your condition you can get it. And if you're over 65, your automatically approved, with no medical exam, as long as you can supply government issued ID.

And the best part is, the place sells Hydro ($10/gram, $260/oz). It's not the shit the government grown, the TCC is only government approved, not government run, the guys that run it also run the local hedge shop, THC (Toronto Hemp Company). The guys that run it are potheads and they buy off illegal growers, so their supply isn't constant or reliable, but they usually have. The guy said its borderline legal, because they get their weed illegally.

Now that you have blown your countries' best kept secret. I am sure that the u.n. will send in a team of investigators to stop it.

ummm, perhaps the u.s.

Georgie can't be happy about this at all, considering he still maintains it's the devils weed, and sick people have no right to it. I'm sure there's been a lot of southern pressure over this, I was pleasantly surprised when I started hearing that it had begun. Our governments growing marijuana. Well well well...

Problem is the US locked away too many potheads to admit it was wrong. And if the US admited it was wrong, not only would people be sueing the government for compensation, but they might say "if America was wrong about weed, maybe they're wrong about other things too". And America cant have people questioning the government, that is a threat to the stability of society. Goddam Socialist think they can tell people what to do. Death to Socialism!

That's probably it. Can you imagine being the president who admitted that yes, we've been a bunch of total retards and broken up your families and all that shit for nothing...

It wouldn't go over too well. It's like a big monster that they keep feeding and feeding because if they quit feeding it the monster will turn on them and they will be devoured. Don't get pet alligators. They might be cute when they're babies, but then they get too big and you can't handle them and the whole thing goes to shit.

Dang! I must admit that this is something I have never considered before. But now that you have pointed it out, it is stunningly obvious. I am sure that you have hit the nail right on the head. It may not be the MAIN reason, but I am damn sure it's gotta be in the top three.

As for litigation for "wrongful imprisonment"... I can just imagine! With American juries awarding criminals huge sums when they sue a homeowner whose dog bit them during the commission of a burglary, you can bet the settlements awarded to hundreds of thousands of potheads will bankrupt the US government overnight. America will be looking for foreign aid from Bangladesh and Haiti to keep afloat.

Death to Socialism!

Just out of curiosity, what would one have to do get a state gov't to legalize MJ seeds in a single state?

Petitions? Letters to senators? I'm all for it, states need to start legalizing the smaller stuff before the Federal goverment de-reg's the main thing... MJ.

Peace

The only way is to start a rebellion and overthrow the gov.
I'll leave it in your hands, seeing as I'm Canadian and all.

Viva le revolution!

It's really ironic that if you're sick, weed is okay, but if you're in perfect physical health, weed is immoral, illegal, evil, corrupting, and just plain wrong. And alcohol is more of a gateway drug then weed will ever be.

Most Canadians don't feel that way. A lot don't want it legalized, or don't want it becoming acceptable for their kids, but unless you're immoral, evil and corrupting in some other way they probably won't make that stereotype. (There are also lots who would of course.)

I think most Canadians are closer to indifference. They don't really care if it's legal or not, but they feel it's not their burden to deal with, and it probably isn't.

Ulysees, I know thats not how Canadians think but thats what the government tells us. If you ask a Judge or a cop, they're not gonna say "there's nothing wrong with weed" even if that is what they think. Their job is to dictate the law and have the opinion of the government, they're not allowed to think for themselves and usually they dont. They do what they're told and not what right, because to them, doing what they're told is doing whats right, even if its wrong.
