Remember, I said comparatively.  To know, you'd have to compare with poo sub.  Else you don't know.

It would stand to reason that pure coir mushrooms would be less, less.  Maybe less potent, less vital, less something if they're not getting the nutes for which they're programmed.

You can't actually know if you don't compare, so don't try and bulldoze me.

we know comparatively manure/coir doesnt change potency for better or worse.  coir is very nutritious to mushies.  where did you here that it wasnt, its not nutritious for plants but fungus for sure.:stoned:

bulldoze? naw. ok maybe.

correct me if i'm wrong (and i may be) but after a bunch of clone>multispore>clone to coir, i'm sure you could say exactly the opposite.

either way, if there is a difference, noone can tell when eating them, and that is what counts.

Trying to turn it on me doesn't do anything.  I'm not a grower, just a studier.  I'm asking you dance.

I realize that what I say goes against the rigid orthodoxy, but I'm-a be me.  Coir is just cellulose, like paper, nothing more.

All poo is not the same.  But I've tried to ask here what variances there can be, and rather than discussion of composting, salts, and pH, I got a stupid shitstorm of ridicule.  This tells me that almost no one's actually thinking about it.

If you haven't done anything yourself, why are you making such claims? People have thought about it and still do. I doubt many here have access to the tools they need to determine such specifics. Cellulose is organic matter though, and fungi can thrive by decomposing it. It's not just coir, you can't ignore the spawn material. I never made any claims, why are you asking me?

Yes see I suspect that the spawn material is the primary nutrition where pure coir is used.  This is unnecessary, and when I grow up I'm going to try poo/coir/gypsum 50/45/5.  Not bothering to try pure coir because I already have my rigid orthodox opinion about that.

I'm saying what we seem to know, out loud, and advancing  theories to try and improve.

Where did I say the spawn material is the primary nutrition? I don't care if it is, that's not what I said. God damn people on this site love to misconstrue the words of others.
You do know cellulose is a polymer of glucose molecules? Psilocybe most likely have the enzymes necessary to break down cellulose and utilize it as a food source. In fact, the animals you get poo from have a very rich cellulose diet.

Never said you said spawn is the main nute dale.  I said that.  It is hard work to break down cellulose and starches.  Why not make it easy with a medium the myc's DNA is programmed to access directly?

Here's something most don't know:  Cows do not digest grass/straw.  The bacteria in their gut does.  Over time the straw is covered with it until about all there is is a big wad of bacteria, and that's what the cow primarily digests.  A nice mass of proteins, vitamins, minerals, etc, for myc to feed on.

Coffee/water 50/50 soak for schlerota grain I don't question, as it seems clear it makes a big difference in myc propagation.

But why would coffee grounds make a difference in the substrate? Hell, why does it help with schlerota myc, but it does.  I hew to poo for bulk, as it's closest to the mushroom's native habitat.

if cows shit coir, i'm sure cubes would still grow out of them.

so is breaking down (which is not hard for cubensis) vegetative matter / cellulose = coir.:super:

think fungus not plants/animals.
