yeah and I agree with what you said. They have a better life indoors declawed than outside in the elements.

yup.

no one bitches about them getting completely castrated or having complete hysterectomies for animal control, when human males simply get vasectomies and human females get hysterectomies for serious medical reasons.

I'm sure all the men bitching about declawing would rather have the tip of their fingers removed than have their balls chopped off.

erm... my cats grasp things just fine and can even climb trees and fences. They are not affected by the declawing at all.

mine climbs trees as well, and he's damn good at it despite not having front claws (he still has his back ones). the way he plays with the dogs we had to get his front paws de-clawed. it was either that or let him keep the claws and worry about vet bills for a clawed out dog eye. he's fine without them, and does everything a cat with all his claws would do. i didn't really like the thought of chopping off the tips of his fingers but it had to be done.

my father had 3 wild cats and a wild dog, all of which he was able to train, quite easily I might add, to not kill each other without ripping their claws off.

the dog he had since she was a baby and was raised as the nicest most mellow dog I've ever met. she was a white mutt with some Siberian husky mixed. She's never barked/growled/gotten mad in her life. she's 12 years old now I think.

the first 2 cats he found as babies, abandoned in the wild and he waited with them for 3 days to see if the parents would come back and took them in when they didn't. they did fine with their claws on.

the third wild cat was found under his porch. he left the front window open all summer but didn't let him inside but went out to feed him every day while he stayed under the porch. when he was strong enough to jump into the window by himself he was allowed inside. he was very frightened at first and wouldn't come out for anyone for the first month or so. then he was fine. scratched the shit out of everyone at first. but after a month after getting used to friendly attention.
(mind you he lives in the country, so the windows were always open for them to go outside and come back inside whenever they pleased, weather permitting)
