I think inbreeding an animal until it can no longer function as an animal is cruel. Yeah munchkin cats are cute but they have no balance and come with a host of genetic issues. People are ridiculous when it comes to opinions about aesthetics.

I can only imagine the level of fucked when we start manipulating human genetics on the scale we have with dogs.

I agree.  I don't support breeding munchkin cats, it's just not natural..  They are a normal cat with tiny legs and just can't do the same things.  They'd never survive in the wild if escaped or dumped out there.

When it comes down to it.. I don't support the breeding of any animal.  The shelters and humane societies are already too full with animals that need help and a place to call home.

i hope you don't really feel this way. declawing is practically torture.

I do. My favorite cat has front claws and he's a bastard. Claws up everything. If I had nice furniture they wouldn't have knuckles. I mean I did have nice furniture but it's there's now. And don't try telling me to train them because there is a pack hierarchy that hasn't been disassembled since I was born. They'd all have to die at once to train one properly.

Do you even have scratching posts and scratching pads in your house?

Cats are animals, who need things to scratch.  If you don't supply that for them, what else are they supposed to do?

Mentholated muscle rub. Or something with a strong citrus smell. Rub it where they like to scratch, arm rests or whatever. They don't like the smell and they especially don't like their paws slipping on goo. I've used cayenne pepper oil too.

Also possible that, if they're indoor cats, their claws aren't being manicured well. You can ask your vet to look n see if they need trimmed.

I have an issue with my kitty getting too close to my car when its moving. I think it's cuz she knows my car and is happy to see me (none of the neighbors have said anything.) i think I'm gonna start carrying a super soaker in my car and get her from the windows.
That's her only downside. If she does meow quite loudly and insistently.

How is declawing a cat any more inhumane than clipping the ears or tails of boxers and other similar animals?

I see nothing wrong with declawing a cat. They destroy furniture, they scratch little kids... clipping their nails doesn't solve these problems.

I think all of that is cruel too. Even worse in the case of cropping since you are mutilating an animal for merely aesthetic reasons.

Yeah I agree mutilating an animal is worse for aesthetic reasons, but declawing cats at least serves a purpose.

It's not anymore inhumane than neutering or spaying an animal.

Funny how people are against declawing cats when we can't even get any legislation against circumcision.

Actually its MUCH more inhumane

You are literally cutting off their toes, not just their claws.

I don't agree with ear cropping or tail docking either but declawing is fucked up and can ruin the animals quality of life.

That's even worse. My dog was incredibly talkative. We would argue with each other.

My sister would be playing her saxophone and he'd sing along. I miss him a lot.
